Trap Card - Judgment of Anubis! Machina Fortress's revival is negated!
"Ryuzaki actually had a move like that hidden too!"
Commentator Xiao Du was practically spitting.
"It seems even the Fortress's revival was within his calculations. And because it's a Counter Trap, Kira has almost no room to save it. His momentum has been completely broken.
Looking at this, it should be very difficult for him to continue his counterattack. So, can he still stick to his declaration of ending the match this turn?"
However, facing this situation, Kira's only thought was:
Okay, fine with Kenzan, but how do you even have Misawa's cards?
That's right, in the original GX, this 'Judgment of Anubis' was a card used by the well-known side character Daichi Misawa. It was originally a Trap specifically for Zombie Type monsters. If you Banish five Zombie Type monsters from your Graveyard, you can Special Summon a Zombie Type monster from your Deck.
But Ryuzaki, being a Dinosaur Type Duelist, obviously doesn't have any Zombie Type monsters. However, in the anime environment, using it as a similar substitute for Trap Hole is actually still somewhat useful.
After all, Duelists in this world don't have as much freedom when building their Decks; they often use whatever they have on hand. If they happen to pull this card from a pack, even a non-Zombie Type user might consider including it.
The Fortress returned to the Graveyard, but Kira didn't seem bothered. Another card emerged from the Graveyard with a golden light.
"The effect of 'Machina Megaform' in the Graveyard."
Kira showed the card that emerged from the Graveyard area.
"If this card is in the Graveyard and a 'Machina Fortress' you control is sent to the Graveyard, you can Banish that 'Machina Fortress' from the Graveyard; you can Special Summon this card."
The destroyed Machina Fortress returned to the field as a translucent phantom, then dispersed with a flickering golden light.
"Therefore, I Banish Machina Fortress from the Graveyard, and Special Summon 'Machina Megaform'!"
The scattered points of light from the Fortress re-condensed into a solid form. The illusory heavy armor began to transform, its massive metal feet stomping onto the floor with a dull thud. Heavy treads shifted to the sides, the main cannon lifted onto its shoulder. The alloy fortress slowly began to transform into a heavily armored robot.
Autobots, transform!
[Machina Megaform, ATK 2600]
"Who would have thought, Kira actually had another play planned!"
Commentator Xiao Du's face was flushed red, their emotions seemingly more hyped than the Duelists actually playing on the field.
"This was the COST discarded from his Hand when he Special Summoned Machina Fortress last turn! Kira had already calculated this many steps ahead since then!
Could today truly be the day we witness the rise of a new star!?"
Commentator Sasaki silently picked up a handkerchief and wiped the spit that had splattered onto their face, then subtly shifted their seat a few inches away from their colleague.
But just as the Fortress was about to finish transforming, the massive Machina suddenly stumbled, crashing down onto one knee with a boom. Its body began to flicker erratically, then gradually dematerialized until it vanished like a wisp of smoke.
Commentator Xiao Du: "!"
"Wh-wh-what's happening now?" The commentator exclaimed in shock. "Where's the Megaform?"
"Hahahaha!" Ryuzaki burst into laughter. "I already accounted for you having a follow-up play hidden in the Graveyard. Maybe you did calculate two or three steps further than others, but my Duel goes even further than yours!
The moment you activated the effect of 'Machina Megaform', I chained this card!"
Only then did everyone's gaze fall upon the face-up Trap Card in his Back Row.
Trap Card - Lost.
"'Lost' allows me to select one card in your Graveyard and Banish it directly from the game. Therefore, before your Machina could Revive onto the field, I immediately Banished your 'Machina Megaform' from the game!"
Ryuzaki's smile grew even more smug.
"How about that? Can you still claim this is my last turn? All your Machina monsters have been destroyed, and every one of your strategies and setups has been dismantled by me. And I still have the invincible Dark Tyranno on my field!"
Commentator Sasaki couldn't help but nod. "Indeed. Although Kira had plenty of follow-up plays ready, Dinosaur Ryuzaki is certainly not an easy opponent to deal with.
It's a shame, but no matter what strategy he originally prepared, it seems he'll be powerless against this setup..."
Ryuzaki clearly thought so too.
You took two hits, and you still think you can finish me this turn?
You think you can force a kill on me with Dark Tyranno staring you down?
"Go on, try and finish me this turn. If you've got what it takes, do it already! I'm waiting right here..."
Kira pondered.
Hmm... that's a strange request.
Well, since my opponent is asking for it...
"Reveal my Set Card."
He pointed to the Back Row near his feet, and the Trap Card flipped face-up.
"Continuous Trap 'Limit Reverse'. It allows me to Special Summon one monster with 1000 or less ATK from my Graveyard in Attack Position.
When that monster is changed to Defense Position, both that monster and this card are destroyed."
"Hm?" Ryuzaki raised an eyebrow.
It can only Revive monsters with 1000 or less ATK, and they can't switch to Defense? So they're all just weaklings...
"The card I'm reviving is this one."
Kira took the card that popped out of the Graveyard.
"Card Blaster!"
[Card Blaster, ATK 400]
Card Blaster, one of Judai Yuki's often-used monsters in the later stages. It has the ability to gain 1900 ATK in a single turn by sending the top three cards of the Deck to the Graveyard, and when it's destroyed, the player can Draw a card.
Combining the abilities of sending cards to the Graveyard, gaining ATK, and Drawing, it was a frequent sight in top-tier Decks in the real card game environment back then, and was even Limited due to its excessively high appearance rate in tournaments.
But Ryuzaki clearly didn't see how powerful this thing was: "Heh, just as I thought, nothing but fodder."
"You'll find out soon enough if it's fodder. Next, I activate a Spell Card from my Hand."
Kira waved his hand, and a green Spell Card appeared before him.
"Spell Card - Machine Duplication.
You can target one Machine Type monster you control with 500 or less ATK, and Special Summon up to two monsters with the same name from your Deck.
The one I'm choosing, of course, is 'Card Blaster' with 400 ATK!"
He drew the two cards he searched from his Deck.
"Special Summon the other two 'Card Blaster's!"
[Card Blaster, ATK 400] x3
"Three monsters all at once?"
Ryuzaki forced down the unease in his heart.
"But fodder is fodder in the end, no matter how many show up..."
"Card Blaster's effect." Kira continued his move. "Once per turn, Card Blaster can send the top three cards of your Deck to the Graveyard.
For each card sent to the Graveyard by this effect, this card gains 500 ATK until the End Phase.
Therefore, I activate the effect of all three 'Card Blaster's consecutively, sending nine cards from the top of my Deck to the Graveyard!"
A large handful of cards shuffled out of the Deck, swishing one after another into the Graveyard zone on the Duel Disk.
"Each Card Blaster gains 1500 ATK!"
[Card Blaster, ATK 400 -> ATK 1900] x3
"And the last card I'm playing is this..."
Kira played the final card that would end the Duel.
"Quick-Play Spell - Limiter Removal! Double the ATK of all Machine Type monsters you currently control until the end of the turn!"
"Wh-wh-what!?"
Ryuzaki was shocked, and so were both commentators. The audience's gasps turned into a wave, practically threatening to lift the arena roof.
All Machine Type monsters on the field double their ATK, which means these three Card Blaster's...
[Card Blaster, ATK 1900 -> ATK 3800] x3
"Three thousand eight hundred ATK, three of them at once!?"
Commentator Xiao Du felt like they were stunned speechless.
Is this kind of play even possible??
Commentator Sasaki also drew a sharp breath, feeling a storm rage within them.
The machines' limits were removed. The three blasters crackled and sparked with electricity all over, their bodies rapidly expanding, instantly growing from three little guys into towering Machina resembling giant robots.
The originally imposing Dark Tyranno now had to crane its neck just to see these colossal Machina reaching for the sky, and couldn't help but break into a cold sweat, shrinking its head and trembling.
"First, the first Card Blaster, destroy 'Dark Tyranno'!"
Bang bang, the cannons fired. The pitch-black dinosaur was pierced through the middle, exploding with a boom.
Ryuzaki: "Woah!"
[Ryuzaki, LP 2800 -> LP 1600]
His Back Row was completely used up, his resources utterly depleted. Of course, Ryuzaki couldn't possibly have any way to defend himself now.
"Next are the remaining Card Blaster's, Direct Attack on Ryuzaki!"
Cannons locked on, electricity surged. Both Card Blaster's fired simultaneously, their spinning projectiles leaving trails of burning black smoke as they flew straight towards Ryuzaki.
Reflected in the cannon fire, Ryuzaki's vision blurred. In that moment of trance, Kira across from him seemed to overlap with another figure from his memory.
Under the roar of the cannons, he hallucinated, hearing the voice of an old friend from years past.
The original Duel King, Yugi Mutou.
"No matter what kind of card it is, it has value."
"Even the weakest monster has its meaning. To easily dismiss a card's potential by calling it 'fodder' means you don't deserve to be called a Duelist."
Taking hit after hit from the double traps, yet still able to rebuild such a formation in one go. This level of power, this overwhelming offensive pressure – this was the feeling of strength he sought.
Card Blaster, with an Attack of only four hundred, such an inconspicuous nobody, yet it managed to pull off such a decisive finishing combo.
For a moment, it was almost as if he saw the former Yugi Mutou standing across from him.
But it was only fleeting; the illusion quickly vanished.
In its place was the overwhelming firepower that completely engulfed him.
Ryuzaki, LP 1600→ LP 0
Just yesterday, a friend reminded me, asking why I was posting so many words a day during the new book period. This is because crucial recommendations like Sanjiang and Xiaolaba during the new book period have word count limits; only new books under 200,000 words have a chance to be selected. So, posting so many words a day is essentially shooting myself in the foot, especially since I'm already at 50,000 words and haven't even gotten a trial recommendation yet. It's highly likely I'll exceed the word count before it's my turn.
However, today I still updated with another nine thousand words in one go. After much thought, I really wanted to finish this Duel in one go. If the book tanks because of this, I'll just have to accept it... (QAQ)
Finally, I'd like to ask for continued reading. Continued reading is still the most important thing during the new book period. Thank you
Before you continue
