"Why?"

D.D collapsed to the ground in a standard Conan-style kneel, and the cards in his Duel Disk miraculously scattered all over the floor with a clatter—as though losing a duel and having your Deck spill everywhere was some kind of curse.

"I already summoned Destiny HERO - Plasma," he muttered to himself. "I already sold even my soul. Why? Why still can't I win!?"

"Even after all that, am I still not the strongest?"

"Could it be that I—Aaargh!"

His expression suddenly twisted as he screamed in agony.

The Destiny HERO - Plasma card fell to the ground, but an immense white light leaked from its base. The light danced viciously through the air, taking on a monstrous form. It swung its claws, wielded a dragon-headed weapon in its hand, and slowly formed spread skeletal wings behind its back, vaguely resembling Destiny HERO - Plasma itself.

It bared its fangs and claws, roaring madly without restraint, as though it harbored hatred for the entire world and hungered to devour everything.

Aster looked at Destiny HERO - Plasma, the card he had pursued his entire life. Looking at that horrifying monster, that seemingly cursed figure, he felt fear arise within him for no reason. And sorrow.

"This is Father's lifelong masterpiece, the final card he left behind," Aster murmured. "Was it really a monster like this?"

"No, Aster."

Kira's voice rang out. Aster turned toward him in confusion.

Kira walked to his side and gently patted his shoulder.

"That isn't the card your father left behind. It's merely a monster that stole its nest and took its power. But don't worry. It's just a paper tiger—fierce on the outside, weak within."
