"Raaaargh!"

Mello roared unwillingly, the sound barely human. Fiery Cannon's barrage bombarded his entire field, a chain of explosions soaring skyward as though they had blasted his very soul out of his body.

That was not an exaggeration, but a literal depiction. The continuous bombardment blasted a white shadow straight out of Mello's body, as though his soul had truly left its shell.

After being blown out of his body, the white thing let out an even more frenzied roar, its form swelling to several times its original size. At first, it had looked only half as large as Mello, but within mere seconds of that wild howl, it had expanded to the height of two people.

Abstract features appeared on its once blank-paper-like face: eyes seemingly brimming with savage rage, and a roaring mouth that seemed to breathe out a hurricane.

Light of Destruction.

Kira had known that the thing confronting him from the start had essentially been this very entity. It clung to human bodies like a parasite, using its host as a medium through which to wield its power.

Judging from its portrayal in the anime, Light of Destruction might have been a form of symbiotic existence. In the anime, it had possessed D.D., the culprit who stole Destiny HERO - Plasma; possessed the Destiny HERO - Plasma card; possessed Saiō; and attached itself to Yubel, even causing Yubel to evolve into two New forms she had not originally possessed.

Light of Destruction could possess both spirits and humans, control and drastically enhance its host, and even develop new abilities. But it most likely could not act independently. Without a host, it lost most of its fighting power.

Just like now.

The mass of light roared and snarled, baring its claws and fangs in a vicious display.
