Early morning at Duel Academy, Principal's Office.
"Professor Cobra actually had a scheme like this..."
Principal Samejima sat with his fingers interlaced beneath his chin, looking somewhat dazed.
The sunlight outside the window shone on his smooth bald head, making it look as though it were radiating a golden glow from afar.
Just last night, Samejima, as principal, had learned of Professor Cobra's plot as well.
The KaibaCorp Search Team Kira had brought in thoroughly investigated the facility where Cobra had previously been hiding. From the data left behind, they uncovered Cobra's horrifying intention to hold a "Death Duel" tournament at Duel Academy.
Clearly, he intended to use the Life Force of the academy's teachers and students to revive an evil, terrifying spirit.
The Search Team had also found a large number of wristwatch devices in the facility. KaibaCorp's examination confirmed that the devices would place an enormous burden on the bodies of the duelists wearing them. After a duel, they might suffer exhaustion, fall unconscious, or be left with permanent aftereffects. In serious cases, their lives might even be endangered.
If things had truly been allowed to reach that point, it would have become an unmanageable catastrophe.
Moreover, the evidence gathered so far only showed that Professor Cobra wanted to gather energy to revive that terrifying spirit. What the spirit would do after its resurrection, and what sort of threat it might pose, remained unknown.
But it was foreseeable that the situation could have become far worse than it was now.
As it happened, Principal Samejima was due to leave on a business trip again in a couple of days. If that happened, he might be absent yet again when something went wrong at the academy.
Thinking of this, Samejima could not help rubbing his brow, feeling a lingering
