Several months earlier, Egypt.
Beneath a wilderness seemingly forgotten by time lay a history that had been buried for millennia.
Then, within that eternal, unchanging darkness, a crack suddenly appeared.
"Wait, I think I found something."
Voices came from outside the crack.
"Over here! This way! It's right beneath this!"
The sound of tools cutting through stone rang out as the crack rapidly widened. A beam of modern light pierced through a thousand years of silence, lifting the veil of darkness. Deep in this place untouched by sunlight, the air was thick with dampness and age.
A team of archaeological excavators peered inside, the beams of their lights like golden swords cutting through the dark.
Every face was filled with the excitement of making history.
"The local village legends were true. There really is something here."
"Be careful. We heard the things in here might be dangerous."
"Don't be so nervous. Even if it was dangerous, it's been thousands of years, maybe even tens of thousands." Someone joked, "Time takes care of everything."
The team carefully made its way through the labyrinthine tunnels and stone chambers. It felt as though every breath and heartbeat echoed through the enclosed space, unusually clear.
When they reached the deepest part of the underground ruins, what awaited them was a stone tablet.
The tablet bore the marks of countless years, mottled with moss and dirt, ancient and terrifying. Carved upon it was what appeared to be some kind of demon. The design was extremely simple, almost like a crude sketch, yet for some reason, those rough lines were vivid enough to send chills down one's spine.
Every member of the team took one look at what was on the tablet, then silently turned away, not daring to look again.
"Hey, look over here."
