Sect Destruction and Seclusion

Gai Yue was born into a major sword sect in the Star Luo Empire. Its conflict with the Wind Sword Sect concerned the position of the world’s second-greatest Sword Martial Soul. His grandfather, sect master Gai Lun, was Level 85, while the opposing sect master was Level 89. Gai Yue’s declining sect was destroyed, and he was its only survivor 24.

Before his escape, Gai Yue witnessed Gai Lun remove the sect’s inherited spirit bone from his own body and give it to him. He subsequently spent decades cultivating alone. Because the Wind Sword Sect did not know he had survived, he avoided exposing his distinctive Frost Moon Sword martial soul and waited until he could destroy the sect decisively 24 103.

During these years, he befriended Flender and Zhao Wuji, who helped him during his Sixth Spirit Ring hunt. They continued meeting every few years, but he refused their offers to assist with his revenge 21 24.

Becoming Oscar’s Teacher

Flender brought Gai Yue to Shrek Academy on Oscar’s ninth birthday. Gai Yue offered to remain and teach swordsmanship for five years if Oscar passed his test. After assessing Oscar’s foundation and resolve, he accepted him as his disciple and joined the academy’s teachers 20 21 23.

He passed down his family’s Frost Moon Sword Technique and began guiding Oscar’s sword cultivation. Oscar arranged accommodation for him in Shrek’s peach grove, while the disciple’s training habits inspired Gai Yue himself to work harder 26 27.

When Dugu Bo reported that Oscar had apparently died in the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Gai Yue initially struggled to believe it. Revenge and the Sword Sect

Oscar’s cultivation resources accelerated Gai Yue’s growth, while Dugu Bo helped him develop his first Soul Core. After reaching Level 90, Gai Yue accepted Oscar’s plan to pursue a Hundred Thousand Year Golden Swordfish rather than the over-ninety-thousand-year Frost Dragon he had originally selected for his Ninth Spirit Ring 69 102 143.

The successful sea hunt raised him to Level 93. He then used Oscar’s Clone Sausage to send a clone out of the Star Dou Great Forest without involving his disciple. Despite possessing only sixty percent of his strength, the clone wiped out the Wind Sword Sect, killing more than eight hundred members. Completing his revenge brought him to Level 94 145 156.

Afterward, Gai Yue committed himself to supporting Oscar’s ambitions rather than remaining defined by his vendetta. As the Sword Sect’s Great Elder, he helped guide cultivation, recruit allies, and represent the sect in dealings with Spirit Hall 156 242 244 294.

Marriage to Xue Qingluan

Flender and Liu Erlong proposed matching Gai Yue with Xue Qingluan, the dean of Skywater Academy. Having devoted most of his life to cultivation, Gai Yue initially agreed only to avoid disappointing them. He sent an avatar to their arranged meeting at Lingyu Restaurant, but returned genuinely interested in her and directly expressed his wish to pursue a relationship 242 253 254.

Their correspondence developed into further meetings. When Xue Qingluan sought help protecting her disciple Shui Bing’er from an unwanted union, Gai Yue offered to support her as her husband. His pursuit of revenge is patient and uncompromising. He refuses assistance because he considers the destruction of his family a personal vendetta, but will not act until victory is assured.
