The Johto Region had many hills, and the forests were full of fault lines, naturally forming numerous waterfalls. The slow pools beneath them had become favorite drinking spots for Wild Pokemon.
For someone of average strength, setting up camp in a place like this would be suicidal. But Sato had deliberately chosen it because he planned to train. Attacks from Wild Pokemon made for a nice change of pace during training.
Most powerful Trainers could endure solitude. It was perfectly normal for them to spend two or three months at a time in the wild.
Compared to the noisy bustle of the city, Sato preferred the forest's peace and straightforwardness.

After Carvanha defeated the last Poliwhirl, this pool temporarily became its territory. The strong ruled—simple as that.
Sato tossed out several High-Grade Energy Cubes favored by Water-type Pokemon, only to find that Carvanha ate them all unhurriedly. It neither disliked nor particularly enjoyed them.
"What about this?"
A drop of blood slid from Sato's finger and landed on one of the Energy Cubes before he tossed it over again.
"Shark!"
Carvanha shot out of the water impatiently before the Energy Cube could even hit the surface, biting down on it in one gulp. Once it splashed back into the pool, it immediately looked at Sato with unsatisfied eyes, asking for more.
"Eating too much won't help. Train first. I'll feed you again once you've absorbed it." Sato squatted down and stroked Carvanha's smooth shark skin, when a dish of cold shark skin salad suddenly popped into his mind.
"Slurp~" Sato discreetly sucked back his saliva and began the official training.
