The alarm went off, and Sato, who was sitting cross-legged on the bed, opened his eyes on time. There was not the slightest trace of morning grogginess or confusion in them.

After turning off the alarm, Sato got up to wash up. Although today was the Top 4 Match, morning training still had to continue as usual.

"Pika... chu~"

The alarm had failed to wake Pikachu, but Sato getting up did the trick.

Pikachu, sleeping on the pillow, lightly twitched its ears before letting out a huge yawn.

Tear drops hung from the corners of its eyes as it stared blankly ahead for a while. Only then did it slowly jump off the bed and run toward Sato in the bathroom by following his scent.

"Pika-pi!"

"Morning, Pikachu. Want to wash your face and brush your teeth?"

"Pika?"

Pikachu jumped onto the sink and watched Sato with a pile of white foam in his mouth, looking no different from someone who had been poisoned.

"Pi!"

Pikachu shook its head fiercely, then quickly escaped from the sink.

Though it was not the first time it had seen humans "playing dead," it still could not understand how this thing was good for teeth.

Ten minutes later, Sato walked out of his room ready to go. Pikachu also excitedly jumped onto his shoulder—no one was competing with it for that spot today.

The Indigo Plateau was crowded and complicated, so Sato brought Pikachu to the open space in the forest behind the Pokemon Center.

"Everyone, come out!"

Six beams of red light flashed, and the team Sato planned to use in the Top 4 Match appeared in the forest ahead of time.
