Forty years ago, twenty-five-year-old Meishali successfully broke through to Elite Four level, becoming one of only two Elite Four level Trainers in Dragon Village.

That same year, Meishali took her fully evolved Starter Pokemon, Hydreigon, defeated two Elite Four members of the Unova Region, and successfully assumed the position of the third Elite Four member.

But one month later, Meishali voluntarily resigned from the Elite Four, setting the record for the shortest tenure in its history.

No one knew why Meishali had suddenly left and vanished without another word.

Even many friends who had once known her only knew that Meishali had returned to her hometown.

Meishali had indeed returned, but only she and her great-grandma knew the truth behind it.

Meishali's great-grandma had been Dragon Village's priestess at the time, and all the villagers respectfully called her Grandma Long.

But just one month after Meishali returned, her great-grandma suddenly died of illness. Meishali thus inherited her position as priestess and began protecting Dragon Village.

Unlike Meishali, who was somewhat hesitant and timid, her great-grandma was exceedingly forceful despite her advanced age, having spent her entire life pursuing greater strength.
