Ch. 182Raikou Attacks!

After completing Gym renovation plans at Indigo Plateau, Sato and George encountered Raikou in the forest, where Raikou challenged Sato’s Zoroark. Sato amplified Zoroark with Dark Power through his Key Stone, raising its strength to Pseudo-Elite Four Intermediate as the battle continued.

  • Sato discussed the Gym’s second renovation with Pokémon League staff, then stayed overnight at the Pokémon Center with George.
  • Sato and George set out for Dark Night Town, but ran toward a distant thunderclap and found Raikou at the center of a scorched clearing.
  • Raikou attacked after seeing Sato’s Rainbow Wing, and Zoroark fought it but was badly hurt by Raikou’s Wild Charge.
  • Sato used his Key Stone to channel Dark Power into Zoroark, boosting it to Pseudo-Elite Four Intermediate.
  • Sato and Zoroark synchronized through the Key Stone, and Sato commanded Zoroark to use Dark Burst.

Ch. 183Dark Power Amplification!

Sato and Zoroark fought Raikou, pushing themselves to their limits before the Legendary Pokémon abruptly departed. Elite Four Agatha arrived afterward, and Sato prepared to explain the encounter as George helped care for the exhausted team.

  • Zoroark used Dark Burst, Aerial Ace, and Sucker Punch against Raikou, but Raikou countered with Iron Tail and Iron Head.
  • Sato mentally commanded Zoroark to use Focus Blast and Dark Pulse, and Zoroark endured Raikou’s Thunderbolt until it reached its limit.
  • Raikou paused as if listening to something, then leaped away and vanished.
  • George directed Florges, Wigglytuff, Kirlia, and Gogoat to treat Zoroark and help Sato recover.
  • An Elite Four-level Gengar startled Sato and Houndoom, but Agatha called it back and appeared from the woods.
  • Sato told Agatha that Raikou had come to spar, and George asked to return first so they could discuss it later.

Ch. 184Dark Night Intelligence Store

Sato learned that he had passed Raikou’s trial and decided to give the Rainbow Wing’s reward to Zoroark. After reaching Dark Night Town, he and George visited the Dark Night Intelligence Store and bought information for their upcoming trip into the Dark Night Forest.

  • Elite Four Agatha recognized the Rainbow Wing, confirmed that Sato had passed Raikou’s trial, and explained that any of his Pokemon could receive the reward.
  • Sato chose to save the reward for Zoroark, which had fought Raikou and was recovering at the Pokemon Center.
  • After another day of rest, Sato and George traveled for a week from the Indigo Plateau to Dark Night Town.
  • Sato and George visited the Dark Night Intelligence Store and learned that it bought and resold Trainers’ information about the Dark Night Forest.
  • Sato and George each bought several pieces of information to use in the Dark Night Forest.

Ch. 185Dark Night Forest

Sato and George traveled through the Dark Night Forest, where Sato hoped to find a highly talented Murkrow for his future Gym team. After Gengar quietly put one Murkrow to sleep, another resisted Hypnosis and raised the alarm across the forest.

  • Umbreon scouted ahead while Sato and George rested and shared George’s pastries with Kirlia.
  • Umbreon reported a flock of nearly a hundred Murkrow, and Sato decided to search it for a suitable Pokémon.
  • Sato and George ventured deeper into the forest with Umbreon and Kirlia, encountering increasingly wary Murkrow.
  • Sato sent out Gengar, which used Hypnosis to put an ordinary Murkrow to sleep.
  • A Murkrow unaffected by Hypnosis shrieked, stirring the entire forest.

Ch. 186Totem-level Murkrow

Sato and his Pokémon fought a giant Murkrow leading a flock in Dark Night Forest, and he realized the leader was a Totem-level Pokémon with Elite Four potential. After the Murkrow fled to protect its companions and eggs, Sato gave up on capturing it and focused on stopping the spreading fire.

  • Over a hundred Murkrow attacked Sato’s group, and Weavile used Blizzard and Ice Punch to defeat many of them.
  • The giant Murkrow arrived and attacked Weavile with Heat Wave, but Weavile used the forest and Ice Shard to wear it down.
  • The giant Murkrow ordered its flock to flee with injured companions and Pokémon Eggs while it used repeated Heat Waves to hold Weavile back and set the forest ablaze.
  • Sato recognized the giant Murkrow as a Totem-level Pokémon and abandoned any plan to capture it.
  • Sato ordered Weavile to use Blizzard and Sharpedo to use Surf to put out the fire.

Ch. 187Egg Cracked

Sato used his Dark Power to stabilize a cracked Pokémon Egg belonging to the Giant Murkrow, but discovered it was still losing energy through the crack. He called George over to try healing the shell with Viridian Power.

  • After Sato and George helped the Murkrow flock extinguish the fire, several Murkrow carried a Grass Basket holding a cracked Pokémon Egg to the Giant Murkrow.
  • Sato approached the flock and used Dark Power to reassure them before examining the egg.
  • Sato fed Dark Power into the egg, stopping its Life Energy and potential from declining as it began absorbing the energy.
  • Sato realized the egg was still losing energy through its cracked shell, so he called George over to try repairing it with Viridian Power.

Ch. 188A Dad Out of Nowhere...

Sato and George healed the cracked Pokemon Egg, and it hatched into a Little Murkrow that immediately bonded with Sato instead of Giant Murkrow. The chapter ended with Giant Murkrow bewildered and distressed that its child did not recognize it.

  • George used Viridian Power while Sato used Dark Power to repair the Pokemon Egg and restore its potential.
  • After a prolonged treatment, George used Viridian Power at full strength to close the egg’s last crack.
  • The Pokemon Egg hatched, and Little Murkrow crawled from Giant Murkrow’s wing to Sato.
  • Sato repeatedly moved Little Murkrow away, but it returned to him and cried until he picked it up.
  • Giant Murkrow questioned Sato, then collapsed in dismay as Little Murkrow nestled in Sato’s arms.

Ch. 189Free-Range?

Sato and George discussed what to do about Little Murkrow, whose exceptional talent and bond with Sato made both him and Giant Murkrow reluctant to part with it. Sato told Little Murkrow to stay with its flock for now and promised to return for it later.

  • Sato fed Little Murkrow while Giant Murkrow offered it wild Berries, which the chick ignored.
  • Sato explained to George that he wanted Little Murkrow but intended to respect its wishes.
  • Sato approached Little Murkrow with a Poké Ball, prompting Giant Murkrow to block him and threaten to fight.
  • Sato proposed catching Little Murkrow with an unbound Poké Ball and letting it choose between joining him or staying with the flock until it grew stronger.
  • Giant Murkrow asked Little Murkrow what it wanted, but the chick could not understand why it had to choose.
  • Sato told Little Murkrow to stay and grow up happily, promising to come back for it later.

Ch. 190A Big Game

Sato earned Giant Murkrow’s trust by bonding with Little Murkrow and helping the flock, then left with George to search Dark Night Forest for Chansey. Their search had turned up no Chansey by the time they reached a barren clearing, so they planned to try another location.

  • Sato reassured Little Murkrow, which tapped his Poké Ball and was caught before he released it again.
  • Sato stayed with the Murkrow flock, training Little Murkrow and the other Murkrows and arranging sturdy wooden nests for them.
  • After a week, Sato and George said goodbye to the flock and left Little Murkrow behind to grow stronger.
  • Sato and George searched a barren patch of Dark Night Forest for Chansey but found only Pokémon such as Sandshrew and Rhyhorn.
  • Sato and George agreed to search another location the next day.

Ch. 191Mark the Adventurer

Sato and George continued searching the Dark Night Forest for Chansey, then encountered the adventurer Mark, who offered to help despite admitting he was lost and out of food. The search was left unresolved as Sato questioned Mark’s intentions.

  • Sato and George resumed searching for Chansey while Kirlia and Wigglytuff asked local Pokémon for information.
  • George asked whether Sato planned to catch Pokémon for his future Gym, and Sato decided there was no need to rush.
  • Mark emerged from the bushes with his Arbok and introduced himself as an adventurer who had published information about the forest.
  • Mark told Sato and George that the Chansey in the area had run away, though he did not know where they went.
  • Mark insisted he could help them find Chansey, and Sato asked what he wanted; Mark admitted he was out of food and lost.

Ch. 192Mouth King

Mark joined Sato and George after demonstrating that he could summon Pokémon by silently wishing for them, though his luck also led the group astray. They found Chansey, and the chapter ended with it freed from Gengar’s Mean Look but still surrounded.

  • Mark refused to leave and proved his ability by predicting that a Skarmory would appear overhead.
  • Sato and George agreed to take Mark along after learning he could call Pokémon by wishing for them, though he could not summon Legendary Pokémon.
  • Mark led the group through the forest until they became lost beside a rushing river.
  • Mark found Chansey, and Gengar trapped it with Mean Look.
  • George had Gengar release Mean Look, leaving Chansey surrounded by the three humans.

Ch. 193Chansey of Crescent Lake

George befriended Chansey, which led him and the others to Crescent Lake, where Chansey cared for the many Pokémon living in harmony there. George and his Pokémon helped Chansey treat them while Sato explored the lake and attracted a small Houndour.

  • George used Viridian Power to earn Chansey's trust, and Chansey agreed to become his partner before leading him and the others into the forest.
  • Chansey brought the group to Crescent Lake, where they found many rare Pokémon living together in a peaceful habitat.
  • Chansey treated a succession of injured Pokémon, and George joined in with his Pokémon after revealing his Viridian Power.
  • Mark tried to help but Gogoat restrained him, while Sato released Umbreon to assist with support work.
  • Sato wandered around Crescent Lake and was avoided by most Pokémon until a small Houndour approached him.

Ch. 194Taming Depends on Fate!

Sato and his companions left Crescent Lake after George decided not to tame Chansey, but Chansey followed them and chose to become his partner. The group continued toward Dark Night Town in better spirits, while golden eyes watched Sato from the shadows.

  • Sato noticed that injured Pokémon came to Crescent Lake for treatment and wondered whether they would defend Chansey if George tried to tame it.
  • After the group finished treating the Pokémon, George cooked dinner, and the three rested before leaving Crescent Lake early the next morning.
  • George told Mark he would not tame Chansey, and Sato silently disagreed with George giving up without asking Chansey what it wanted.
  • Chansey caught up with the group carrying a packed bag, and George asked it again to become his partner.
  • Chansey revealed that other Chansey took turns treating Pokémon, then voluntarily entered George's Poké Ball as his partner.
  • The group resumed its journey toward Dark Night Town as golden eyes watched Sato from the shadows.

Ch. 195Mascot

After returning to Dark Night Town, Sato and George learned that Mark had made a fortune selling intelligence and heard that the Nurse Joy Family was delaying Sato’s Gengar Mega Evolution Stone. The next morning, Mark insisted on joining them for their journey to Hoenn, and Sato agreed to bring him along as a mascot.

  • Sato, George, and Mark returned to Dark Night Town after their successful trip through Dark Night Forest, where Sato had caught Little Murkrow and George had gained Chansey’s approval.
  • Sato and George discovered that Mark had earned many points at the Dark Night Intelligence Store by selling well-documented information.
  • George called Joy Lily, who said the Nurse Joy Family had tested Mega Evolution with Alakazam, Kangaskhan, and Gengar but could not yet provide Sato with Gengar’s Mega Evolution Stone.
  • Sato and George left the next morning for Goldenrod City, planning to fly to Hoenn, but Mark arrived and demanded to join their adventure.
  • Sato agreed to let Mark travel with them after Mark refused to be dissuaded by the distance or the trip’s expected length.

Ch. 196Gengar Seriously Injured

Sato, George, and Mark traveled toward Goldenrod City, where Team Rocket prepared to lure them into a meeting. When Gengar scouted a narrow canyon passage, it returned with a severe wound, leaving Sato furious and the group on guard.

  • Mark excitedly pointed out rare Pokemon along the route but refused to catch an Eevee after Sato encouraged him to.
  • A blonde Team Rocket executive ordered her subordinate to invite Sato's group to Goldenrod City as soon as possible.
  • Two days into their journey, Sato's group reached a canyon with a narrow passage, and Mark admitted he did not want to enter it.
  • Sato sent Gengar ahead to scout, but after nearly ten minutes Gengar emerged from his shadow with a severe abdominal wound and fainted.
  • George used Viridian Power to heal Gengar, while Sato released Houndoom and the others watched for danger.

Ch. 197I'm Interested in You

Sato, George, and Mark entered Fault Canyon and encountered Athena, a powerful Team Rocket executive who had ambushed them. Athena became interested in Sato after he resisted her Psychic powers, leaving the group facing a tense standoff.

  • Sato ignored George and Mark’s concerns, and the three cautiously approached the canyon fissure.
  • Athena left her concealed Team Rocket members to investigate, while Sato and his companions found no sign of an ambush.
  • An Alakazam attacked Sato, but Houndoom’s Crunch missed when the Pokémon Teleported away.
  • Athena appeared before the group with three Alakazam, and Sato recognized her as one of Team Rocket’s Three Great Executives.
  • Athena lifted George with Psychic power, but Sato dispelled it with Dark Power, and Houndoom burned away Florges’s redirected Magical Leaf.
  • Athena said she was interested in Sato as well as his Houndoom, though she regretted that he was too young.

Ch. 198Four Pseudo-Elite Four!

Sato used Mega Evolution to battle Athena’s Team Rocket Pokémon, while George’s support Pokémon helped keep his team alive. Athena unleashed four Hyper Beams and escaped in the confusion, leaving Sato, George, and Mark to face the aftermath.

  • Sato Mega Evolved Houndoom and ordered it to attack Athena’s two Alakazam.
  • Mega Houndoom’s Inferno badly burned Big Hu, while George’s Pokémon supported the allies and Zoroark and Weavile interrupted Slowking.
  • Athena sent out Slowking, Espeon, and Xatu, revealing four Pokémon with Pseudo-Elite Four strength still in the fight.
  • Sato used Dark Power Amplification to raise Zoroark and Weavile to Pseudo-Elite Four Beginner strength, though the effort caused him pain.
  • Athena ordered Second Hu, Xatu, Espeon, and Slowking to fire Hyper Beams, and the group used Protect as the blasts carved a huge pit.
  • Athena vanished after the smoke cleared.

Ch. 199My Head Hurts So Much

Sato and his companions escaped Athena after he used Mega Evolution and Energy Amplification together, but the strain left him unconscious with a severe headache. After recovering enough to travel, he decided they needed to reach Goldenrod City quickly to avoid Team Rocket.

  • Sato escaped into the forest with George and Mark after Athena vanished, while Weavile checked for pursuers.
  • Sato fainted when he stopped Mega Evolution and Energy Amplification, and George treated him as the group took shelter in a tree hollow.
  • Sato woke the next morning and meditated until his Dark Power and Mental Power recovered enough to ease his headache.
  • Sato realized that using both powers together left him unable to command his Pokemon properly and decided to head for Hoenn and lie low.
  • Sato told George and Mark they would leave for Goldenrod City soon because Athena belonged to Team Rocket and might return with others.
  • Kirlia lifted Mark with Confusion when he tried to approach Sato, while George prepared medicine.

Ch. 200A New Beginning

Sato, George, and Mark escaped Team Rocket by flying from Goldenrod City to Mauville City in the Hoenn Region. Athena and Apollo learned too late that they had left, while Sato chose to head east from Mauville the next day.

  • Sato told George and Mark why Team Rocket had attacked him, and the three booked an afternoon flight to Hoenn.
  • Sato visited Goldenrod Gym to see Nagamura but learned from Akane that her grandfather was missing again.
  • Apollo took charge of the hunt for Sato, but Athena discovered from new intelligence that Sato and his companions had already flown to Hoenn.
  • Apollo left Goldenrod City, and Athena threatened to pursue Sato while punishing the subordinate who had brought the intelligence.
  • Sato, George, and Mark arrived in Mauville City, checked into a hotel, and decided to travel east the next day.

Ch. 201Hoothoot Died...

Sato, George, and Mark set out from Mauville City toward Mt. Pyre, while Mark avoided catching Pokémon until Sato asked why. Mark revealed that his first attempt to catch a second Pokémon ended with Hoothoot dying.

  • Sato persuaded the frightened Mark to travel with him and George to Mt. Pyre, and the three departed the next morning.
  • The group reached a small port east of Mauville City and boarded a ferry across the water.
  • Sato released Sharpedo into the sea, George tended to the group’s Pokémon, and Mark caught and released several Pokémon while fishing, including a Milotic.
  • Sato asked Mark why he never caught Pokémon beyond his Arbok, and Mark admitted he wanted to but was afraid.
  • Mark explained that catching his first Pokémon, Ekans, nearly killed them both, then revealed that Hoothoot died after Mark fell and was seriously injured.
