Ch. 262Fossil Pokémon Appear!

Sato, Steven Stone, George, and Mark explored deeper into the Underwater Cave, where they encountered two living Fossil Pokémon. Steven caught Armaldo, and the group continued their exploration.

  • The group followed Mark’s lucky intuition down the right path as White Crystals increasingly lit the cave.
  • A Lileep grabbed Mark and tried to digest him, but Sato’s Weavile and George’s Florges rescued him while Arbok defeated the Pokémon.
  • Sato identified the dead Lileep as a Fossil Pokémon, and George used Viridian Power to heal Mark.
  • The group encountered an Armaldo, which fought Metagross before being subdued by it.
  • Steven caught Armaldo and offered the others first choice if they encountered another Pokémon.

Ch. 263The Fated Third Partner

Sato and his companions searched a cave on Central Island and found a dying Pokemon Egg that Sato recognized as a Togepi, likely Mark's fated third Pokemon. George used Viridian Power to stabilize it, but Togepi needed energy from the same source, leaving Mark to find a way to help.

  • Sato, George, Mark, and Steven Stone crossed the turbulent Underground Lake and reached Central Island.
  • Steven Stone, George, and Sato searched an abandoned Flying-type Pokemon nest, but Mark found a Pokemon Egg buried among the feathers.
  • George sensed that the egg's life force was extremely weak and used Viridian Power to treat it while Mark held it.
  • Sato recognized the egg as Togepi and suspected it was Mark's fated third Pokemon.
  • George explained that Togepi needed energy from the same source to recover, and Mark struggled to figure out how to provide it.

Ch. 264Gain New Life

Mark confronted his Luck Curse while trying to save the lifeless Pokemon Egg, awakened a strange power, and hatched Togepi. With George exhausted, the group decided to return to the submarine to rest before resuming the Underwater Cave expedition.

  • Mark desperately tried to use his luck to revive the Pokemon Egg, but it remained lifeless as George grew weaker.
  • Mark entered a dark, bodiless state, where a voice challenged him to admit that he hated his Luck Curse.
  • Mark rejected the offer to lose his power and said he hated his own weakness for failing to protect Hoothoot, Teddiursa, and the life in the egg.
  • Mark instinctively sent a strange force into the Pokemon Egg, and it hatched into Togepi, who rested against his chest before returning to its egg state.
  • Steven Stone watched the events in shock, while Sato supported the exhausted George.
  • The group agreed to return to the submarine to rest before continuing their search for the Origin Stone and exploring the Underwater Cave.

Ch. 265Underground Space

Mark and his companions discovered a vast, brightly lit ecosystem inside the Underwater Cave, where many Pokémon seemed to coexist peacefully. After Mark startled a Lotad, the Pokémon attacked, and his companions pulled him back to the entrance as the cavern’s inhabitants rushed toward them.

  • Togepi finished its milk and spent the day playing with Lapras while Mark prepared to leave with George.
  • Mark, George, Steven Stone, and Sato continued exploring the Underwater Cave and found a huge underground space filled with a lake, forests, and many Pokémon living together.
  • The four noticed that the Pokémon ignored their arrival, and Mark approached the Lotad watering a berry grove.
  • Mark lifted a Lotad by its lily pad, startling it; after it fell onto its back, he tried to help it.
  • A hand pulled Mark away as numerous moves struck him, and his companions defended him near the entrance while the cavern’s Pokémon charged at them.

Ch. 266Negotiator George

Sato, Mark, and their companions were surrounded by a large group of powerful Pokémon led by Slaking in the Underwater Cave. George negotiated through Kirlia and learned they had to battle to earn passage, while losing meant handing Mark over.

  • Mark apologized to Sato after his actions stirred up a massive group of Pokémon, which surrounded them in the Underwater Cave.
  • A powerful Slaking arrived with a Ralts on its shoulder, and Steven Stone warned that its strength exceeded Metagross's.
  • George released Kirlia and approached Slaking to negotiate, while Sato secretly sent Gengar to protect him.
  • Kirlia and Ralts communicated, and Slaking reluctantly agreed to a battle that would decide whether the group could leave.
  • George told the others that losing meant handing Mark over, leaving Mark terrified.

Ch. 267The Mad Slaking

Steven Stone sent Metagross to battle Slaking, hoping to keep the fight even, but Slaking’s strength and sudden frenzy turned the match dangerous. As Slaking attacked without pause and targeted Metagross again, Sato’s Ralts called out with a calming burst of Fairy energy.

  • Mark begged Steven Stone to win, while Sato and George warned that the battle should end in a draw.
  • Steven Stone sent Metagross to fight Slaking, which opened with Giga Impact and was countered by Metagross’s spinning Hammer Arm.
  • Slaking recovered from the blow and struck Metagross with Blast Burn, while Metagross used Iron Defense and later dodged Hyper Beam with Agility.
  • After Slaking was knocked down again, it went mad, ignored Truant, and battered Metagross until Protect and Substitute let it escape.
  • As Slaking destroyed the Substitute and turned back toward Metagross, Sato’s Ralts cried out with soothing Fairy-type energy.

Ch. 268Hidden Boss Ralts

Ralts evolved twice into an Elite Four-level Gardevoir, calmed the rampaging Slaking, and mediated its apology to the wild Pokémon. Gardevoir then asked the humans to keep the place secret, while Steven Stone began negotiating what they would receive in return.

  • The Water-, Psychic-, and Grass-type Pokémon restrained Slaking with rain, Confusion, and Stun Spore while Sato and the others joined in.
  • Altaria carried Ralts before Slaking, where Ralts evolved into Kirlia and then Gardevoir.
  • Gardevoir touched Slaking’s forehead and calmed its rage, after which it scolded Slaking and made it apologize to the frightened wild Pokémon.
  • Gardevoir used Telepathy to speak with the humans and asked them not to reveal the place after they left.
  • Steven Stone said someone would come looking for them if they lost contact, then asked Gardevoir what they could get in return.

Ch. 269Taking Advantage of the Fire to Rob

Gardevoir negotiated with Steven Stone and the others, then gave them four mysterious items as hush money. As they left the Underwater Cave, Steven Stone identified two of the gifts, while Sato still did not know what his withered tree root was for.

  • Gardevoir questioned whether the humans would return, then said it trusted George but did not trust Steven Stone.
  • Steven Stone promised never to return, though he insisted on leaving with something; Gardevoir accepted his word and devolved into Ralts.
  • Over lunch, Steven Stone and Sato wondered what treasure could sustain the Underwater Cave's many Pokemon, but Steven Stone admitted he did not know.
  • After lunch, Slaking brought the group a withered tree root, a meteorite-like iron ball, a Shiny Stone, and an Awakening Stone, which Ralts distributed among them.
  • Steven Stone explained that Mark's Shiny Stone could help Togetic evolve further and that George's Awakening Stone could evolve Kirlia into Gallade, while Sato could not identify his tree root.

Ch. 270The Historical Tide Rolls On

Sato and his companions left the Underwater Cave with rare treasures, while Ralts sealed the cave behind them. Back at Steven Stone’s home, Steven gave Sato the promised Rock-type Origin Stone and Mega Evolution information, and Sato proposed a deal.

  • Sato and Steven Stone identified and packed away a Grass-type Energy Crystal and Starfall Iron, then Steven caught a wandering Cradily as the group headed back to the submarine.
  • After the group left the Underwater Cave, Ralts collapsed the entrance and flooded the cave, while an unseen green-haired girl eavesdropped on the travelers aboard the submarine.
  • The travelers reached the surface after thirty-six hours, and Sato, George, and Steven Stone left Mark behind briefly before bringing him along to Steven’s home.
  • Steven gave Sato the promised Rock-type Origin Stone and a USB Drive containing his Mega Evolution information, then joked that he offered no returns.
  • Sato suggested making a deal with Steven, who offered him a friendship price.

Ch. 271An Unexpected Visit

After giving Cacturne a Grass-type Energy Crystal and sending Pupitar to train, Sato was ambushed by the Ralts from the Underwater Cave. He stopped its attempted evolution with Dark Power, but Ralts emerged visibly transformed.

  • Sato sent Pupitar to Joy Town to absorb origin power and gave Cacturne the Grass-type Energy Crystal.
  • Sato considered seeking an Origin Stone for Gengar and waited for Steven Stone to report back about possible stones.
  • Sato rushed into the living room after hearing Mark scream and found Ralts holding Mark, George, and Kirlia in place with Psychic power.
  • Sato resisted Ralts's attack with Dark Power, freeing the others as Kirlia teleported George behind him and Cacturne cushioned Mark's fall.
  • Sato grabbed Ralts as it began to evolve and flooded it with Dark Power, interrupting the evolution and leaving its body and eyes changed.

Ch. 272Save Me!

Ralts appeared at Sato’s home and was badly injured after he attacked it while it controlled George and Mark. As Joy struggled to treat Ralts, Sato tried to reclaim the Dark Power changing its body, but Ralts screamed and begged him to save it.

  • George and Mark told Sato that Ralts had appeared in the living room, controlled them and Kirlia, and showed no apparent malice at first.
  • Sato sensed Dark Power draining into Ralts and realized that conflicting energies were changing it and causing severe pain.
  • Mark fetched Nurse Joy, who placed Ralts in intensive care, but its condition did not improve over two hours.
  • Sato proposed reclaiming his Dark Power from Ralts, and Joy allowed him to try.
  • Ralts screamed when Sato attempted to draw the Dark Power back, then looked at him with fear and pleaded, “Save me!”

Ch. 273Leaving Mossdeep City

Sato left Mossdeep City with George and Ralts, whose interrupted evolution had bound it to Sato because his Dark Power kept the energies inside it from clashing. The group sailed away on a private ferry arranged by Steven Stone, while Ralts followed Sato into the cabin and provoked Umbreon and Pichu.

  • Sato realized that Ralts had to stay near his Dark Power to keep its Psychic-, Fairy-, and Dark-type energies from fighting, and Ralts reluctantly accepted traveling with him.
  • Sato and George prepared to leave Mossdeep City, and Steven Stone arranged a private ferry to see them off.
  • Ralts hid from Steven Stone aboard the submarine and again when he came to the harbor, leaving Sato to wonder why it avoided him.
  • On the ferry, Pichu chased Umbreon around the cabin, and both Pokémon jumped toward Sato when he entered.
  • Ralts mocked Umbreon, prompting Umbreon and Pichu to glare at it, until Sato sternly cut Ralts off.

Ch. 274Crossing the Bottom Line

Sato punished Ralts for attacking Pichu and insulting Umbreon by withdrawing the Dark Power that eased its pain, but he eventually saved it at Pichu and Umbreon’s request. After waking to find the energies in its body stabilized, Ralts awkwardly accepted food from Sato and Pichu as the group prepared to continue toward their next destination.

  • Ralts struck Pichu with Psychic power, so Sato grabbed it and withdrew the Dark Power that had been easing its pain.
  • Ralts collapsed as the energies in its body turned unstable, while Sato comforted Pichu and Umbreon avoided Pichu’s attempts to cuddle.
  • Pichu asked Sato to help Ralts, and Umbreon agreed, so Sato restored the Dark Power and George examined Ralts with Chansey.
  • Ralts woke at dusk to find the energies in its body peacefully coexisting, and Sato told it to drink the warm Grassy Goat Milk.
  • Pichu offered Ralts a piece of cake after noticing its hunger, leaving Ralts embarrassed and startled.

Ch. 275Ghost Ship on the High Seas

Sato and his companions’ ferry was caught in an expanding thunderstorm and collided with an ancient Ghost Ship. Sato followed Gengar toward the vessel after it sensed a power aboard, while Ralts flew after him.

  • Ralts became more withdrawn after Sato’s lesson, while Pichu remained the only Pokémon willing to talk to it.
  • The ferry’s crew tried to steer around expanding thunderclouds, but the ship was caught in the storm and battered by enormous waves.
  • After the storm calmed, the ferry jolted against a massive wooden ship, which the captain identified as a centuries-old Ghost Ship.
  • Gengar sensed a power aboard the Ghost Ship, and Sato decided to investigate despite Mark’s warning.
  • Sato rode Sharpedo toward the Ghost Ship using Aqua Jet, and Ralts hurried after him.

Ch. 276Mismagius's Illusions

Sato and Gengar fought their way through the Ghost Ship, where Sato discovered that a powerful Salamence was an illusion created by Mismagius. Sato tried to catch Mismagius, but after it broke free and refused to submit, he had Gengar knock it unconscious.

  • Sato and Gengar advanced through the Ghost Ship, using Dark Power to spot ambushes and defeat the Ghost-type Pokémon in their path.
  • Below the ship, a group of fully evolved Ghost-type Pokémon fought viciously in a room beneath a portrait of a young girl.
  • Sato and Gengar encountered an illusory Salamence, and Sato identified Mismagius hiding nearby as the one creating the illusion.
  • Gengar hit Mismagius with Shadow Ball, and Sato threw a Poké Ball to catch it, but Mismagius broke free and fled.
  • Sato threw another Poké Ball, but Mismagius broke free again and refused to submit, so Sato ordered Gengar to knock it unconscious.

Ch. 277Hypnosis Pendulum Shows Power

Sato and Gengar descended through the Ghost Ship, using the Hypnosis Pendulum to swiftly put hostile Ghost-type Pokemon to sleep. They reached a cabin where seven Elite Peak Pokemon were fighting over a prize, and Sato activated Gengar's Mega Evolution as a Dusknoir attacked.

  • Sato left the defeated Mismagius uncaptured and continued down the Ghost Ship with Gengar.
  • On the sixth floor, Gengar avoided an ambush by two wild Gengar and defeated them with its Dark Pulse Whip and Hypnosis Pendulum.
  • Gengar used the Hypnosis Pendulum to put hostile Wild Pokemon to sleep as Sato continued toward the lower decks.
  • Sato and Gengar reached a cabin where seven Elite Peak Ghost-type Pokemon were fighting over a beneficial item, but Gengar could not pass through the cabin's hidden barrier.
  • A Dusknoir attacked Sato and Gengar, so Sato Mega Evolved Gengar, which launched a massive Shadow Ball at Dusknoir.

Ch. 278Mysterious Space

After Gengar entered the painting, Sato was pulled into a strange space where he appeared aboard the Ghost Ship before its disaster, unable to interact with anyone. He recognized the woman from the painting as Maki and followed her below deck, hoping to find a way back.

  • Mega Gengar defeated the Ghost-type Pokémon with Hypnosis and a Shadow Ball, then used Nightmare to keep them incapacitated.
  • Gengar entered the upper-right corner of the painting, causing it to glow and pulling Sato into another place.
  • Sato discovered that people on the ocean liner could neither see nor touch him, and his Poké Ball would not open.
  • Sato saw Maki with her Misdreavus and watched a young man with a Charmeleon insult them.
  • Sato recognized the ship as the Ghost Ship before anything had happened and followed Maki toward the cabin.

Ch. 279Monster Apostle

Sato followed Maki and a young Monster Apostle aboard the ship, then spent a week observing their lives and learning about the era’s Monster Apostles. When a vast storm swept toward the ship, Kyogre leaped from the ocean before him.

  • Sato followed Maki to her room and watched her greet Aki, who promised to show her his nearly finished painting first.
  • Sato followed Aki to his cabin and recognized the unfinished painting as the one that had brought him to this strange place.
  • Sato spent several days exploring the ship and learned that Pokémon Trainers were called Monster Apostles, with Wandering Apostles like Maki living apart from controlled groups.
  • A week passed as Sato watched Aki visit Maki and work on the painting, while Gengar remained missing and Sato could neither eat nor sleep.
  • Sato saw dark clouds rapidly gather ahead of the ship and heard an eerie growl from the ocean.
  • Kyogre burst from the water in front of the ship, and Sato recognized the enormous sea monster.

Ch. 280Kyogre's Crushing Dominance

Kyogre attacked the ship and unleashed a Sheer Cold that froze the sea and killed the Water-type Pokémon, leaving the Monster Apostles to fight for survival. As Kyogre crushed the remaining attackers, the Gloomy Man and Maki helped catch a fallen Altaria and its Apostle.

  • Sato watched Kyogre raise a massive wave toward the ship as Dragonite, Salamence, and the other Pokémon emerged to attack it.
  • The Pokémon’s combined moves blasted a hole through the wave and saved the ship from the first impact.
  • Kyogre used Sheer Cold to freeze the surrounding sea, killing every Water-type Pokémon nearby and trapping the ship in the ice.
  • The red-haired man and another trainer ordered Dragonite and Salamence to attack Kyogre with Draco Meteor, but Kyogre continued crushing Pokémon and Apostles in the sky.
  • The remaining Apostles jumped onto the ice to catch their falling companions, and the Gloomy Man cushioned a falling Altaria with help from Maki’s Misdreavus.

Ch. 281The Color of the Sea, Pure and Flawless

Sato watched the doomed fight against Kyogre and searched the ship for Maki’s boyfriend, hoping to find a way out of the recorded memory. Palkia answered the Dragon Tamer Family Uncle’s sacrifice and battled Kyogre while the Painter broke down over his unfinished picture of Maki.

  • Sato saw that the Monster Apostles were being overwhelmed and ran into the ship to find the Painter.
  • The Dragon Tamer Family Uncle sacrificed his life force to summon Palkia, which appeared through a Space Rift and fought Kyogre.
  • Kyogre’s blood killed several Monster Apostles who tried to collect it, leaving everyone aboard dependent on Palkia.
  • Sato reached the Painter’s room and found him unable to mix the pure, flawless blue he wanted for his painting of Maki.
  • The Painter broke down crying as Smeargle watched in disappointment, hatred, and heartache, and Sato recognized the painting from his memory.
