  • Sato left the area and resolved to become stronger, expecting future assassination attempts to be more dangerous.

Ch. 64Death Monument Valley

Sato entered Death Monument Valley to find a highly talented Ghost-type Pokemon that could serve as a bargaining chip for learning from Ecruteak Gym. After using Solidified Smoke to draw the valley’s Pokemon into a brawl, he spotted a Duskull with Pseudo-Elite Four talent and began a careful plan to capture it.

  • Sato released Zoroark and Haunter in Death Monument Valley, where they encountered hostile Ghost-type Pokemon and Sato captured an Elite Level Gastly.
  • Sato used Solidified Smoke as bait, drawing a swarm of Pokemon into a chaotic fight while he searched for a promising target.
  • Sato spotted a Duskull with Pseudo-Elite Four talent following Two Dusclops and ordered Haunter and Zoroark to trail it.

Ch. 66The Buddha Said: There Is a Demon in Your Heart

Sato visited Ecruteak City’s Pokémon Center, revealed part of his Pokémon-related ability to Nurse Joy, and gained her support in keeping it secret. He then reached Ecruteak Gym to meet Gym Leader Lin Bai and presented Duskull’s Poké Ball.

  • A monk told Sato that there was a demon in his heart, but Sato ignored him and continued to the Pokémon Center.
  • Nurse Joy arranged a guest room for Sato and offered to help him sell Drifblim and Gastly safely through other channels.
  • After testing Haunter, Nurse Joy learned about Sato’s ability and promised to tell the clan leader and help conceal it.
  • Sato reflected on his desire to grow stronger and protect himself, then left the Pokémon Center for Ecruteak Gym.
  • Kenji escorted Sato to Lin Bai, who spoke with him about their mutual acquaintance Yasumura before Sato brought out Duskull’s Poké Ball.

Ch. 67Transaction

Sato traded Duskull to Lin Bai for help and instruction, then spent half a month improving Haunter before bringing it to the Burned Tower for its evolution. As midnight approached, a monk Sato had met before arrived at the tower.

  • Sato gave Lin Bai a talented Duskull, and Lin Bai agreed to help Haunter evolve and teach Sato about Ghost-type training.
  • Sato studied at Ecruteak Gym while Haunter trained, and he received a reassuring letter from Elder Nurse Joy after selling two Poké Balls.
  • Lin Bai told Sato that midnight would be the best time for Haunter to evolve.
  • Lin Bai led Sato and a disciple to the second floor of the Burned Tower, where they waited for midnight on a moonlit stone disc.
  • A monk Sato had encountered before walked toward them as they waited.

Ch. 68Golden Eyes

Sato watched Misdreavus and Haunter evolve under the moonlight at Burned Tower, with Master Mingguang and Lin Bai supporting the process. Misdreavus became Mismagius and Haunter became Gengar, while Sato realized the two masters had arranged the help without telling him.

  • Master Mingguang and Lin Bai began channeling their powers to support Misdreavus's and Haunter's evolutions as midnight approached.
  • At midnight, Misdreavus absorbed the Dusk Stone and moonlight, evolved into Mismagius, and gained increased potential.
  • Haunter's cocoon continued absorbing moonlight while Lin Bai and Master Mingguang strained to sustain their special powers.
  • Haunter's evolution began in a burst of blue, golden, and purple light, and it emerged as Gengar with Ghost-type talent above Pseudo-Elite Four level.
  • Lin Bai told Sato that Master Mingguang had volunteered to help, and Sato realized they had kept their arrangement secret from him.

Ch. 69Rainbow Wing

After Gengar evolved, Sato trained it and finally accepted Master Mingguang’s invitation to Bell Tower. Master Mingguang showed him the Rainbow Wing, which glowed brighter near Sato, and explained that Bell Tower had been seeking people who could react to it.

  • Sato left Burned Tower after entrusting Duskull to Lin Bai, then told Gengar not to blame itself for the trouble.
  • Sato watched Gengar battle Zoroark and saw that Gengar had reached Elite Intermediate and gained Destiny Bond, Clear Smog, and Cursed Body.
  • After repeatedly avoiding Bell Tower’s invitations, Sato agreed to visit Master Mingguang the next day.
  • Sato entered Bell Tower and met Master Mingguang among the monks gathered before a statue of Ho-Oh.
  • Master Mingguang showed Sato the Rainbow Wing and explained that it glowed more brightly when brought near him.

Ch. 70A Day Without Mischief Makes Them Itch

Sato accepted the Rainbow Wing from Master Mingguang and left Ecruteak City to train Carvanha near Olivine City. On the way, he battled a Beedrill swarm and a coordinated pack of Houndour, targeting the pack’s leader for capture.

  • Master Mingguang explained that Trainers carrying the Rainbow Wing sometimes met Ho-Oh, and Sato agreed to keep the wing despite his doubts.
  • Sato left the Pokémon Center and headed west from Ecruteak City, choosing Olivine City as his destination for Carvanha’s training.
  • Larvitar and Spinarak provoked a swarm of Beedrill, so Sato’s Pokémon defeated the swarm and he caught a Beedrill with elite Bug-type potential.
  • A pack of Houndour surrounded Sato, and he ordered Zoroark, Gengar, Larvitar, and Spinarak to fight them.
  • Sato sent Carvanha after the Houndour Leader, disrupting the pack’s formation, then threw a Poké Ball at the injured leader.

Ch. 71Group Dumbfounded

Sato investigated the Houndoom clan and set a trap for the sturdy Houndour he wanted to capture. He trapped and poisoned the hunting party with Spinarak’s nets, then had Gengar spray them with Antidote Potion, leaving the Houndour bewildered.

  • Sato treated Spinarak and the others after the Houndour Leader escaped, then sent Gengar to find the Houndour den.
  • Sato avoided a larger Houndoom group and scouted their rocky valley, identifying a sturdy Houndour as his target.
  • Sato monitored the clan for three days and learned when the Houndour hunting party left its territory.
  • Gengar struck one Houndour, and Spinarak’s enormous poisonous nets trapped most of the group as they tried to bite through them.
  • Sato emerged with Spinarak and ordered Gengar to spray the trapped Houndour with Antidote Potion.

Ch. 72Full Roster

Sato defeated the Houndour leader with Larvitar and caught the female Houndour, completing his six-Pokémon team. He left the forest with Houndour as his guide, bound for Olivine City, while its former pack howled farewell.

  • Sato challenged the Houndour leader, offering the pack food if it won and a place on his team if it lost.
  • Larvitar endured Houndour's attacks, boosted itself with Dragon Dance, and defeated it with Brick Break.
  • The Houndour pack stopped itself from attacking Sato, and the defeated leader submitted to him.
  • Sato healed Houndour, offered it a Poké Ball, and caught it after it willingly tapped the ball.
  • Sato checked Houndour's data and recognized its Early Bird Ability and strong potential.
  • Sato left the forest for Olivine City with Houndour, which turned back to hear its pack howling goodbye.

Ch. 73Competing for Favor

Sato encountered Team Rocket pursuing two escaped researchers and secretly followed them to a hidden Underground Base. After the Rockets took the researchers inside, Sato dug into a ventilation pipe to begin exploring the base.

  • Sato's Houndour warned him as two researchers fled past, followed by Team Rocket members with Arbok and Weezing.
  • Team Rocket captured the exhausted researchers and carried them deeper into the forest on Tauros.
  • Sato followed the group and watched the Team Rocket members open a concealed entrance beneath a black stone and lead the researchers inside.
  • Sato used Larvitar and Gengar to dig down to a metal ventilation pipe, then melted an opening and entered alone with Gengar.

Ch. 74Blazing Star Hunter

Sato infiltrated Team Rocket’s research base and watched Boa, a young future Blazing Star Hunter, kill two captured researchers to enforce her authority. He suspected the research results were connected to Ninetales’s special ability and considered investigating further to help Houndour’s Fire-type talent.

  • Sato and Gengar explored the ventilation ducts and learned the base was researching how to stimulate Fire-type Pokémon evolution.
  • Sato watched researchers argue with Team Rocket members after two escapees were recaptured, then saw the elderly Dr. Paro arrive to confront them.
  • Boa appeared with her Ninetales and asked the two captured researchers whether the sky outside was blue before ordering their execution.
  • Ninetales killed the researchers with Iron Tail, and Boa warned Dr. Paro and his team to stop testing her patience.
  • Sato suspected the base’s research had produced Ninetales’s special ability and considered pursuing the results for Houndour.

Ch. 75Potential Stimulation Stock Solution

After Boa forced Dr. Paro to hand over the research results, Sato discovered that Team Rocket was testing a volatile Fire-type Potential Stimulation Stock Solution on Pokémon. He and his Pokémon began freeing the test subjects and copying the research records, while preparing to destroy the computer.

  • Boa intimidated the researchers into reporting Dr. Paro, and the frightened group forced him to surrender the research results.
  • Sato watched Dr. Paro explain that the Potential Stimulation Stock Solution had raised some Pokémon’s potential, then heard him order more painful experiments overnight.
  • Sato saw Fire-type Pokémon suffering from the injections and calmed his own Houndour when it reacted to their cries.
  • Sato sent Gengar to hypnotize the surveillance room and researchers, then released Houndour and Zoroark to help soothe the test subjects.
  • Sato ordered Gengar to find an escape route, sent Spinarak and Larvitar to help free the caged Pokémon, copied the research records, and loaded a Self-destruct Program onto the computer.

Ch. 76Be My Underling

Sato led more than a hundred rescued Fire-type Pokémon through Team Rocket’s base as its alarms sounded, reaching the exit where Boa and her Pokémon confronted him. The battle became a stalemate, and Boa recognized Sato before inviting him to become her underling.

  • Sato set the base’s self-destruct program on a thirty-minute countdown and led the Fire-type Pokémon toward the exit, with Houndour keeping the group disciplined.
  • When a Fire-type Pokémon attacked sleeping Team Rocket members, Sato’s Houndour stopped it violently and kept the group from attacking Rockets they encountered.
  • After the alarms revealed their escape, Sato ordered Houndour to lead the Fire-type Pokémon into battle, and the assembled Pokémon overwhelmed the grunts in their path.
  • At the base exit, Zoroark fought Boa’s Ninetales, gaining the advantage until Charmeleon joined the battle and Sato sent Larvitar to help.
  • Boa identified Sato as the trainer who had opposed Team Rocket in Goldenrod City, and she ordered Ninetales and Charmeleon to fight while asking Sato to become her underling.

Ch. 77Double Battle Coordination

Sato defeated Boa’s Pokemon and escaped the Underground Base with more than a hundred liberated Pokemon, while a self-destruct program erased the base’s research data. Deeper in the forest, the rescued Pokemon prepared to scatter, and Magmar offered a Flame Orb for Houndour.

  • Sato’s Zoroark and Larvitar overwhelmed Boa’s Ninetales, Charmeleon, and Rapidash, forcing Boa to recall Ninetales and leaving Charmeleon badly hurt.
  • After Gengar signaled that Team Rocket had collapsed, Sato led his Pokemon out of the Underground Base while Boa remained behind.
  • A Team Rocket member told Boa that the Experiment Subjects had escaped, the Potential Stimulation Stock Solution was gone, and a self-destruct program would erase the base’s data.
  • The base lost power and its data was erased, while Sato escaped into the forest with more than a hundred Pokemon.
  • Sato told Houndour to disperse the rescued Pokemon, but Houndour stayed by his side as Magmar gave Sato a Flame Orb for Houndour.

Ch. 78Special Ability

Sato left the rescued Houndour with a Flame Orb, and Houndour learned a devastating fire attack from Magmar. After reaching Olivine City, Sato reported Team Rocket’s base to the Nurse Joy Clan and handed over its copied data, then considered whether a Toxic Orb might help Spinarak.

  • Houndour used the Flame Orb to unleash concentrated flames powerful enough to melt a rock, revealing an attack Magmar had taught it.
  • Sato traveled south with Zoroark and arrived in Olivine City three days later.
  • Sato told Nurse Joy Meiqing that he had defeated Team Rocket’s base with Houndour’s help and escaped after defeating Boa.
  • Sato revealed that he had copied the base’s data onto a USB Drive and gave it to Nurse Joy Liyun for processing.
  • Back in his apartment, Sato wondered whether Spinarak could use a Toxic Orb to improve its abilities.

Ch. 79All Members Training

Sato gave Nurse Joy Liyun more than a hundred vials of Potential Stimulation Stock Solution to test, then began training Carvanha in the sea near Olivine City. The next day, he organized training for all six of his Pokemon and set out their individual goals.

  • Joy took Sato's Potential Stimulation Stock Solution to help test it, and Sato decided not to use it on Houndour unless the Nurse Joy Clan could neutralize its risks.
  • Sato brought Carvanha to a deserted beach and taught it to approach a whirlpool carefully and resist its currents.
  • Sato returned to the beach the next day with all six Pokemon and started their basic training.
  • Sato had Zoroark practice narrowing Dark Burst, Gengar improve through Calm Mind, and Larvitar begin training Sandstorm.
  • Sato set Spinarak to improve its moves and Sniper Ability, Carvanha to master water currents with Aqua Jet, and Houndour to build its basics and safely use the Flame Orb.

Ch. 80What's Beneath the Surface Is a Prickly Personality?

Sato completed his training in Olivine City and learned that Team Rocket’s hired assassins were waiting for him in the suburbs. He left the Pokémon Center alone to draw them out, but by nightfall he still had not detected anyone following him.

  • Sato declined a larval-form pseudo-legendary and asked Joy Meiqing to find him a Toxic Orb, poison-training methods, and aerial training for Water-type Pokémon.
  • Sato’s Pokémon gained new abilities as Spinarak mastered Arbok’s poison and Carvanha learned Whirlpool, which let it stay airborne for short periods.
  • Nurse Joy Liyun warned Sato that assassins were waiting outside Olivine City and offered to have people protect him, but he chose to leave alone.
  • Sato traveled into the forest toward the suburbs with Gengar and Spinarak, taking frequent rests and watching for the assassins.
  • Sato found no suspicious movement by nightfall, realizing the assassins had shown more patience than he expected.
