Background
In his previous world, Tang San belonged to the Tang Sect. After stealing its secret scriptures, he was purged from the sect and fell from a cliff before transmigrating into Douluo Continent. He took over the body of a local couple’s unborn child and inherited both of their Martial Souls: the Clear Sky Hammer and Blue Silver Emperor, making him a Twin Martial Soul owner. 17
His foreign knowledge gave him access to Tang Sect secret manuals and hidden weapons that were unknown in Douluo Continent. These techniques became central to his combat style, allowing him to fight above his apparent Spirit Master level. 17
Appearance
Tang San later conceals his changed appearance beneath a bulky black robe and mask after repeatedly using the Eight Spider Lances to absorb other Spirit Masters. When his robe is torn away during his fight with Wu Xing, his exposed appearance provokes shock and disgust from the audience. 68 76
- Wore a black robe while competing for Azure Spirit Academy. 68 69
- Used a mask to conceal his face during the tournament. 69
- His absorbed and unstable Spirit Power gives off an unusually chaotic, evil aura. 68 75
Personality
Tang San is intensely possessive of Xiao Wu and treats her growing distance from him as an intolerable betrayal. When he suspects that someone has influenced her opinion of him, he reacts with hostility, demands explanations, and frightens her with his anger. 21
His humiliation by Wu Xing steadily develops into obsession. Tang San repeatedly vows revenge, becomes willing to attack Wu Xing in forbidden academy grounds, and ultimately chooses to poison and drain his own father’s Spirit Power in pursuit of enough strength to win. 57 65 74
He is also highly prideful. Tang San enjoys becoming the center of attention during the tournament and assumes that raw strength will restore his status, but responds badly whenever Wu Xing eclipses him. 69 76
