"Where else hasn't been swept?"
"If you're hungry, stop working." Ishikawa Shizuka stopped Ishikawa Hayato.
"It's fine. I need to prove I'm more useful than that man who comes home, eats, sprawls on the couch watching TV, and can't even beat his daughter for the remote."
Ishikawa Hayato was practically calling him out by name.
Then an angry shout came from the living room.
"I can hear you!"
Ishikawa Shizuka smiled, handed the broom to Ishikawa Hayato, then lightly smacked him on the head with a hint of reproach.
After telling him which spots still needed sweeping, she went down the stairs and turned toward the kitchen.
After Ishikawa Hayato finished sweeping and headed to the living room, he saw his father sitting at the dining table, with a bottle of alcohol and a small cup in front of him.
Ishikawa Hayato greeted him.
"Evening, Dad. You hungry too?"
"You pissed me off." Ishikawa Jinpei gave him a heavy look.
Ishikawa Hayato grinned.
"Then it becomes coming home to eat and watch TV, losing the remote to your daughter, and getting so angry at your son that you eat another huge bowl of rice."
"You brat!"
Just as Ishikawa Jinpei was about to get angry, he saw Ishikawa Hayato pick up the bottle and fill his cup, then sit across from him as naturally as anything.
Ishikawa Hayato asked.
"Bad mood today? Something happen at work?"
Ishikawa Jinpei paused, then sighed.
"Same old crap."
"Tell me about it."
"It's nothing."
He picked up his cup, took a small sip, and set it back down.
It made a soft clack against the table.
"If you don't want to do it anymore, I've got ways to make money. You won't have to worry about retirement."
"Don't you go doing anything illegal."
"Relax.
