If he had not been certain he had the right map, Wulun would have almost thought he had taken the wrong road.
He fell silent for a moment before speaking uncertainly.
"...Is this West Continent?"
"Probably." Dimit nodded, narrowing his eyes as he looked into the distance. "The southern outskirts of West Continent City. Before the war, it was probably called Bluestone County."
Mountains flanked the county seat to the east and west, and it sat beneath a ridge amid dense vegetation and thick forests.
There were no skyscrapers here, only gardens, townhouses, and villas. It was obvious that the people who had lived here before the war had cared greatly about quality of life.
To the east stood a highway and a maglev station linking West Continent and Clear Spring, though those pieces of infrastructure had long since been heaved into piles of concrete trash and wreckage by the wildly growing vegetation.
During the prosperous era, when transportation had been convenient, this had only been an inconspicuous little county town. Now, however, it had become the southern gateway to West Continent City.
Clearly, the Tooth Clan stationed in West Continent City had realized that as well. If they could not deal with their neighbors to the south, they at least had to guard their own front teeth.
Peering through his binoculars, Wulun noticed that quite a few raiders were stationed here—at least one or two thousand-man units.
Not only that, they had reinforced their positions.
The gaps in the half-collapsed townhouses and villas had been boarded up with wood and aluminum sheets. Concrete buildings taller than three stories had been converted into bunkers and pillboxes. The streets were packed with barricades made of concrete chunks and wooden stakes, and every window seemed to conceal a sentry post, hidden or
