5:00 PM.
Fang Chang lay flat on the bed, put on his helmet, and returned to the game. When he opened his eyes again, a cement-gray ceiling filled his view.
Beneath him was a shabby single bed.
He shifted his heavy head, and a faint fragrance wafted from the compressed pillow into his nose. The only flaw was the hint of motor oil mixed in with it.
Turning his head, he saw the girl sitting by the bed.
She held a screwdriver and was fiddling with the parts in her left arm, though he had no idea whether she was changing the battery or the oil.
This game was always unexpectedly realistic in the strangest places.
"You're awake?" Noticing the movement on the bed, Dolly glanced at him.
She wore a sleeveless T-shirt bleached pale from washing. In the morning light filtering through the window, he could vaguely make out a patch of fair skin, leaving Fang Chang unsure where to look.
"Yeah."
Seeing the man's embarrassment, Dolly gave a sly little laugh and teased him.
"You slept like a rock. Nothing could wake you."
Fang Chang awkwardly rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"Actually, my alcohol tolerance usually isn't... like that. We should drink again sometime."
Dolly smiled.
"It's fine. I'm not making fun of you."
Fang Chang: "..."
Damn it!
That was the annoying thing about this stupid game.
Drink too much and he disconnected constantly. Black out, and the game crashed completely—the kind where he could not log back in at all.
He could not remember anything that had happened last night. He only remembered seeing something, and not seeing something, in the pitch-darkness.
When he truly could not log in anymore, he went to the balcony to smoke and argue with people in the group chat.
