"Is that all there is to it?"
On a hill northwest of Ruigu City, Sesame Paste looked up at the six balloons drifting into the sky, a trace of confusion in her eyes.
It just felt like...
This thing was a little different from the "communications base station" she had imagined.
Wei Ba, standing beside her, was not worried at all. With a heave, he got up from the ground and clapped his hands in satisfaction.
"Whoa, it'll definitely work! Wei Ba followed every step in the manual!"
The so-called communications base station was actually a washing-machine-sized box and six hydrogen balloons connected by a single thin rope.
Its operation was as simple and easy to understand as its structure.
Find an open, relatively elevated area, release the signal relay tied to the balloons into the sky, remember to turn on the power, and the entire setup could begin operating.
The equipment had two metal-hydrogen batteries built in, enough to maintain operation at rated power for at least a week without access to the grid and provide information services to VMs within a radius of ten to twenty kilometers.
Although the entire setup did not have much channel capacity, it could easily handle map updates and mission reception for around a thousand people.
Besides, players could not exactly use VMs to binge short videos in the game.
As a substitute for satellites, this thing worked much like hot-air-balloon WiFi. It was incredibly useful.
The only things to watch out for were the risk of being struck by lightning on rainy days and the possibility of attracting raiders or other strange things if it flew too high.
Still, those were minor issues.
As a temporary means of communication, providing one to three weeks of service was more than enough. No one
