The thick barrel spat fire, and in the blink of an eye, two soldiers were torn to pieces.
The thunderous blast of gunpowder nearly shattered Hailek's eardrums. He fled behind cover in disarray, and just as he raised his gun to return fire, he saw one of his brothers run straight into those howling claws.
Blood and flesh flew everywhere!
Even the great white bear seemed startled by the ferocity of its own charge, let alone the soldiers in black cloaks.
"Spread out!!"
Seeing two more of his brothers die instantly beneath the machine gun's fire, Hailek furiously raised his weapon and emptied a burst at the truck's front.
The bullets struck the welded steel plate shielding the machine gun, producing a clanging racket, but did absolutely nothing beyond throwing sparks and leaving a string of dents.
"Giao!"
Wei Ba reflexively ducked her head, nimbly evading the incoming bullets while keeping both hands steady on the machine gun.
Sesame Paste, sitting in the driver's seat, was the one startled by the bursts of gunfire.
"Ah!!"
She instinctively buried her head beneath the steering wheel, her foot practically welded to the accelerator.
Watching the truck charge toward him, along with that steel plate he simply could not penetrate, despair rose in Hailek's eyes as he gripped his submachine gun.
Especially when he saw the thick barrel on the roof turn toward him.
For a moment, even his heartbeat seemed frozen.
However—
What finally knocked him unconscious was not the bullets fired at him.
It was the truck's front end slamming straight into his chest.
In the final instant before losing consciousness, he vaguely heard someone shout something.
Though he did not understand a word of it...
"A Wei! Leave one alive!"
"Okay! Got it!"
Cold water splashed across his face.
