The Great Desert lay west of the Sunset Province.
Though it was called a desert, it was not nearly as "desolate" as most wastelanders imagined.
The concrete buildings, some collapsed and some buried beneath yellow sand, along with the rust-speckled warehouses and factories, all proclaimed this place's former prosperity. Even after the rolling sands had swept across it for two centuries, they had still failed to completely bury this man-made miracle stretching thousands of kilometers.
More than that, because underground ocean-current pipelines converged here, vast quantities of desalinated seawater seeped into the underground rock layers through ruptured pipes, forming abundant groundwater reservoirs.
Thus, even though this place was plagued by earthquakes, sandstorms, radioactive dust, thundercloud storms, and countless other natural disasters, the species active in this region were actually more thriving than those in the neighboring Sunset Province.
The only blessings that era had left Sunset Province were a few oases, but this place was entirely different.
