North Island, Southern Seas, military harbor. A towering warship stood in the middle of the bay.
Its name was the Sea's Edge.
Nearly four hundred meters long and with a displacement of nearly seventy thousand tons, it looked like a monster crouching in its nest. The cruisers and destroyers docked beside it were utterly overshadowed, like eggs it had laid.
Sharp-edged sloped armor covered every inch of its hull, while thick, long gun barrels stood before and behind the bridge, pointing toward the distant sky.
And the most eye-catching of them all was naturally the massive cannon mounted on the foredeck!
Its caliber alone could no longer describe its power. Its barrel was as thick as a locomotive, something that simply did not belong in naval warfare.
And indeed, that was the case.
There had never been such a thing as a navy in the Human Alliance era. This massive cannon had been dismantled from a starship, and its power naturally could not be measured by conventional weapons.
At that moment, the personnel aboard seemed to have received a signal. The battleship, which had been quietly berthed in the harbor, sounded an alarm. Driven by its fusion reactor, it slowly shifted its enormous body and sailed three to five hundred meters away from the pier.
Then, that angular barrel slowly rose before unfolding to both sides, as though its belly had been split open down the middle, completely exposing the previously sealed breech.
Violent currents crackled, stirring even the air nearby. The rapidly shifting magnetic field frightened away the schools of fish in the area.
The bridge of the Sea's Edge.
The captain stared unblinkingly at the calculated firing data and predicted trajectory displayed on the screen.
