Back then, Captain Marvel Carol had been captured by the Kree Empire. They trained her, wiped her memories, and tried to turn her into the Kree Empire's trump card.

In the end, Carol fought back and killed them. After recovering her memories, she tore apart spacecraft with her bare hands. Her terrifying combat strength stunned Ronan the Accuser, who fled without a second thought.
