Background / History

Chewy Candy emerged from a Zombie Mother Nest shortly before Li Chen encountered her. He named her for her clingy behavior, fed her livestock and Energy Cores, and brought her under his protection with Xu Ruoxi’s help. Energy Core consumption rapidly gave her a child-like body, speech, intelligence, and formidable combat capability. 203 214

She initially regarded Li Chen as a parental figure and called him “Dad.” Her attachment made her highly obedient, though she remained curious about the outside world, eager to hunt high-level zombies, and increasingly protective of him. 214 227 337

Li Chen eventually revealed that she was the Zombie King’s sister. Chewy Candy accepted the truth without turning on the shelter, rejected her brother’s authority, and chose her own position between humans and zombies. She later stopped calling Li Chen “Dad” as she asserted her independence. 345
