As they watched Shen Yi leave, Jiangnan Yan and Xu Wanting exchanged a glance. Neither wanted to speak to the other.
Once best friends, now enemies!
Jiangnan Yan still harbored some resentment. Xu Wanting had deceived her, after all!
She had gained protection because of it, but she had also lost her virginity. She would be lying if she said she felt no hatred.
But she did not hate Xu Wanting that much. The main reason she ignored her was that they were rivals.
Xu Wanting wanted to be Shen Yi's primary partner, and so did she.
Right now, Jiangnan Yan had the better chance.
Because she had Teacher Bai on her side.
If Teacher Bai became Shen Yi's woman too, it would be two against one. With Xu Wanting's gullible nature, Jiangnan Yan could wrap her around her finger!
"Teacher Bai, what are you thinking about?" Jiangnan Yan asked as she came to Bai Xinyi's side.
"My father is home alone. I don't know how he's doing..." Bai Xinyi gazed at the world shrouded in black fog below, her face full of worry.
"Teacher Bai, do you want to save your father?"
Jiangnan Yan had spoken suddenly.
Bai Xinyi looked at her in confusion.
Jiangnan Yan smiled. "It's so dangerous outside right now. You definitely can't make it home alone."
"But if you're willing to take care of my husband and become his woman, he certainly won't abandon your family. With his help, you'll be able to save your father."
"..."
Bai Xinyi blushed faintly and pressed her lips together.
She wanted to refuse, but on second thought, Jiangnan Yan had a point.
Shen Yi was physically strong, had a gun, and possessed a superpower that seemed like magic. If he was willing to protect her, there was a good chance she could get home and save her father.
Otherwise, with her own strength, she could not even deal with the thugs downstairs, let alone make it home.
"And Teacher Bai, do you really think you can keep going without food? If you get together with my husband, you can have meat and water like we did earlier. You'll be able to eat like that from now on."
Jiangnan Yan stepped behind Bai Xinyi and spoke softly into her ear.
Her voice seemed almost magical, full of temptation.

Even Bai Xinyi, who had been so resolute, began to waver.
Her eyes drifted toward the gnawed chicken bones on the table.
She could not help swallowing.
As Shen Yi headed downstairs, quite a few people were rushing up.
Some carried bags of belongings, as though they were moving out.
"Hurry! If those thugs break in, who knows if they'll steal our money!"
"I'm afraid they won't stop at money. I saw blood on their weapons. They might have killed someone!"
"What?! Quick, let's get upstairs and ask the neighbors up there to take us in."
The residents heading up had seen the thugs trying to break down the door. Frightened, they wanted to hide on a higher floor.
Some looked puzzled when they saw Shen Yi going down, but they merely passed him without a word.
The residents of this building had not yet abandoned their principles. They still treated one another with kindness.
Perhaps there simply were not many residents, and they had enough food stored away to keep things that way.
Along the way, Shen Yi checked a few other floors.
Not everyone was running upstairs. Most residents had chosen to hide in their apartments.
Of course, Shen Yi did not care which direction they went. He was looking for any beautiful women who met the system's standards.
Unfortunately, he found none.
Few residents had come out, and he could not be bothered to knock on every door to check.
Once the thugs broke in, these scattered residents would surely be forced to band together. Finding someone would be easier then.
There was no need to waste time now.
Thinking this, Shen Yi checked the floor number.
The fourteenth floor.
He was about to continue down the stairs when he suddenly stopped.
Wait. If my Instant Movement ignores obstacles, couldn't I go straight through the floors?
With that thought, Shen Yi decided to test it.
He looked down at the stairwell beneath his feet. With a thought, his entire body vanished.
In the blink of an eye, he appeared in the stairwell on the thirteenth floor!
"It really works! Damn, I'm a genius!"
Shen Yi immediately started using Instant Movement to travel.
He was much faster now!
Within seconds, he reached the first floor!
"So this is Instant Movement! Hell yeah!"
Shen Yi reveled in the feeling of appearing and disappearing without a trace!
Of course, it cost him energy.
After teleporting more than a dozen times and carefully judging each distance so he would not end up stuck in a wall, he felt he had used at least a fifth of his stamina.
That meant, with his current stamina, he could teleport at least seventy times a day.
With seventy teleports, he could escape even the toughest monster!
Besides, his stamina would gradually recover. So it was not that he could teleport seventy times a day—he could teleport seventy times in one stretch.
Factor in recovery, and he could easily teleport hundreds of times a day!
This was awesome!
Shen Yi glanced at the thugs frantically pounding on the building's entrance door. Ignoring them, he walked to the wall at the back and teleported straight through it.
In the blink of an eye, he was outside the building. He took out his phone, searched for the nearest supermarket, and started navigation.
Shen Yi did not use Instant Movement the whole way. Most of the time, he walked.
Teleporting was faster for getting past obstacles, but if he used it continuously to travel, his stamina would drain faster than it recovered. If he ran into a monster, he might not even have the strength to fight back.
So Shen Yi headed straight toward the supermarket on his map.
Whenever he encountered an obstacle or mutated plant, he teleported past it.
In less than ten minutes, he arrived at a medium-sized supermarket.
Its doors were shut tight.
He had no idea whether anyone was inside.
But Shen Yi did not waste time checking. He teleported straight in.
Who cared if someone was there? He would grab the supplies first. It was not like the police were around to stop him!
The black fog inside was thinner, giving him a wider field of view.
But with the power out, it was still fairly dark.
Shen Yi took a fully loaded pistol from the System Space and cautiously swept his gaze across the first floor.
He saw no one and heard nothing.
Once he was sure it was safe, he went to the shelves and began clearing them out.
Most well-packaged snacks—instant noodles, spicy strips, bread, sausages, and the like—had not been contaminated.
Shen Yi put them all into the System Space.
Shampoo, body wash, and everything else went in too!
He checked and collected as he went.
He even took every kind of pot, bowl, and kitchen utensil, along with slippers, towels, and other supplies!
Given the state of society, these were now irreplaceable resources. There would only be less of them over time, so it made sense to stock up!
Unfortunately, the supermarket was too small and did not have much stock.
On top of that, some of the food and drinks had been contaminated.
Shen Yi had not found as much as he hoped, and he was a little dissatisfied.
After making his rounds, he was about to leave when he spotted what he needed most right now.
Shared power banks!
Without hesitation, he unplugged the charging station and put every shared power bank into the System Space.
There were dozens of them. Most probably still held a charge—enough to last a while.
Just as Shen Yi finished packing up and prepared to leave, a sound suddenly came from behind him!
Something heavy was hurtling toward him!
Shen Yi reacted instantly. The moment he heard it, he used Instant Movement and dodged the sneak attack!
