Ch. 41Chen Feng's Cognitive Barrier

Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin visited Nuoding Academy with Grandmaster to investigate the Jade Pendant, while Chen Feng and Tang San sparred in the Small Grove. Chen Feng reflected on the limits imposed by his Tool Spirit and his own biological assumptions, then Grandmaster called him over to meet the visitors.

  • Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin arrived at Nuoding Academy with Grandmaster to find the child wearing the Jade Pendant.
  • Chen Feng used Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track and his First Spirit Ring skill, Mount Tai Meteorite Fall, against Tang San, but Tang San dodged and trapped him with Blue Silver Grass.
  • Chen Feng accepted that he had lost again and worried that his Tool Spirit prevented him from applying his knowledge of biology to his research.
  • Tang San tried to comfort Chen Feng, who reminded him that he was also a Tool Spirit Master.
  • Grandmaster called Chen Feng over as he and the visitors watched from the edge of the Small Grove.

Ch. 42The Strongest Backwave of Douluo

Chen Feng’s Jade Pendant revealed a mysterious connection to Sword Douluo Chen Xin, who offered to let him call him Grandpa. Grandmaster then explained that Chen Feng’s Thesis could draw powerful factions to him, and wondered whether Chen Feng had anticipated the danger all along.

  • Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin examined Chen Feng’s Jade Pendant, and Chen Xin said Chen Feng was not his direct descendant but could call him Grandpa.
  • Grandmaster sent Tang San to eat, then explained that he had urgently brought Chen Xin because Chen Feng might soon face trouble.
  • Ning Fengzhi identified Chen Feng’s Thesis in Heaven Dou Weekly as a work likely to shake the Spirit World and attract more than half its factions, possibly including Title Douluo.
  • Chen Feng admitted he wrote the Thesis, while Grandmaster credited him alone and asked whether he had known the consequences in advance.

Ch. 43Taking a Master

Chen Feng explained that he had deliberately drawn attention to himself to find a way to repair his flawed Spirit, impressing Ning Fengzhi, Grandmaster, and Chen Xin with his resolve. Chen Xin took Chen Feng as his disciple and promised to protect him before abruptly leaving to attend to something.

  • Chen Feng admitted he had deliberately stirred up attention and explained that he hoped to find or cultivate someone who could help repair his Spirit.
  • Grandmaster was inspired by Chen Feng's refusal to accept fate and resolved to keep fighting to improve Luo Sanpao.
  • Chen Xin praised Chen Feng, promised no one would harm him, and accepted him as his disciple after Chen Feng explained why he would not call him Grandpa.
  • Ning Fengzhi, Grandmaster, and Flender congratulated Chen Xin, and Chen Xin promised Grandmaster and Flender a favor for their help.
  • Chen Xin suddenly sensed something, told Ning Fengzhi he had to leave, and departed.

Ch. 44The Zhen Hexagram's Response

Chen Xin and Tang Hao agreed to protect Chen Feng and Tang San while Chen Xin and Ning Fengzhi dealt with the people gathering outside Nuoding Academy. As the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan arrived, Chen Feng’s Tai Chi Bagua Sword resonated with the Zhen Hexagram.

  • Chen Xin met Tang Hao at Nuoding Academy and learned that Tang Hao was there to watch over his son, Tang San.
  • Tang Hao told Chen Xin that Spirit Hall had caused his wife's death, but he had already taken revenge and now wanted to protect Tang San and resurrect Ah Yin.
  • Tang Hao agreed to guard Chen Feng and the others while Chen Xin and Ning Fengzhi went to confront the gathering forces outside the academy.
  • Chen Feng sensed the newcomers through the Tai Chi Bagua Sword and noticed that the man in black produced a different, unsettling resonance.
  • The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan arrived at the school gate and stirred the Zhen Hexagram.

Ch. 45All the Worthies Gathered, Young and Old Alike

Chen Feng learned that Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon blood could restore the Zhen Hexagram, but the quantity required made him question the Tai Chi Bagua Sword’s sinister nature. Dugu Bo arrived at Nuoding Academy and triggered the Dui Gua’s resonance as powerful factions gathered outside, where Yu Luomian wondered whether Chen Feng had Sword Douluo’s backing.

  • Chen Feng determined that restoring the Zhen Hexagram would require roughly the blood of three hundred people at the level of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan’s leader, and he refused to accept a path of slaughter.
  • Grandmaster decided he would return to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan and ask his father, Yu Yuanzhen, for blood to help Chen Feng.
  • Dugu Bo arrived alone at Nuoding Academy and triggered a Tai Chi Bagua Sword resonance corresponding to the Dui Gua.
  • Ning Fengzhi noted that Dugu Bo had likely come because Chen Feng’s thesis had raised questions about Poison Attribute backlash, while numerous factions gathered outside the academy.
  • The Star Luo Empire’s senior steward said he had come to invite Chen Feng to Star Luo Royal Academy, and Yu Luomian asked whether Chen Feng was connected to Sword Douluo.

Ch. 46A War of Words

Several powerful factions gathered at the academy to recruit or approach Chen Feng, but Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin’s presence protected him from most of their advances. The Star Luo Empire’s Third Prince entered to see Chen Feng, while Gui Mei and Yu Luomian left after learning Yu Xiaogang’s connection to Chen Feng, leaving Dugu Bo as the last visitor outside.

  • Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin blocked the academy gates as rival powers arrived seeking Chen Feng, and Tai Tan, the other clan leaders, and the Four Great Elemental Academies withdrew.
  • The Star Luo Senior Steward said Dai Mubai knew Chen Feng, and Ning Fengzhi allowed Dai Mubai to enter the academy.
  • Gui Mei said the Pope wanted Chen Feng to teach at Spirit Hall, but the Star Luo Senior Steward objected to forcing him.
  • Gui Mei learned that Yu Xiaogang was Chen Feng’s friend and had helped submit his thesis, then left with Yu Luomian and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan.
  • Ning Fengzhi asked Dugu Bo why he had come, after the visitors dwindled to the Star Luo Empire, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, and Dugu Bo.

Ch. 47Dugu Bo's Request

Dugu Bo came to Nuoding Academy to consult Chen Feng about a martial-soul problem and was shocked to learn that the child had written the famous Thesis himself. Chen Feng agreed to discuss the matter privately, while Chen Xin went to question Tang Hao about the corpses at the academy.

  • Dugu Bo asked to meet Chen Feng, offering to do three things for him if Chen Feng solved his problem, and Ning Fengzhi agreed to take him to the Small Grove.
  • As the group headed to the Small Grove, Chen Xin sensed that someone had infiltrated the academy, while Dugu Bo sensed another Title Douluo nearby.
  • Dugu Bo mistook Grandmaster and Flender for Chen Feng until the Star Luo Senior Steward and Ning Fengzhi confirmed that the child was the Thesis's author.
  • Chen Feng said he knew what Dugu Bo wanted to ask and agreed to speak with him in Grandmaster's room.
  • Chen Xin found Tang Hao beside several corpses and learned that the attackers were likely Fallen Ones, not Spirit Hall members.

Ch. 48Tying Up Loose Ends

Tang Hao stayed behind to protect Xiao Feng after Chen Xin declined to take him to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, while Chen Feng and his allies worked to conceal his identity. In private, Dugu Bo asked Chen Feng about the poison affecting his martial soul and family, and Chen Feng explained his suspicions before Dugu Bo asked whether he had a cure.

  • Tang Hao confirmed that the attackers were real Fallen Ones and said he would keep protecting Xiao Feng because Xiao Feng could not go with Chen Xin.
  • Chen Xin and Ning Fengzhi helped explain away the gathering at Nuoding Academy as a misunderstanding, while Chen Feng proposed spreading rumors to hide his identity.
  • Ning Fengzhi suggested that the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect submit Chen Feng's future Theses from different places to make it seem that the academic grandmaster traveled across the continent.
  • Dugu Bo put up a Soul Power barrier in Master's room and asked Chen Feng what he had wanted to discuss about his martial soul.
  • Chen Feng said toxins had seeped into Dugu Bo's bone marrow and bloodline, possibly causing the deaths of his son and daughter-in-law, and Dugu Bo asked if Chen Feng had a solution.

Ch. 49Harnessing Poison with Elements

Chen Feng explained ways for Dugu Bo to manage the toxins harming him and his descendants, then proposed using Immortal Herbs and elemental control to strengthen his Martial Soul. Dugu Bo considered Chen Feng’s water-element approach as a possible path forward.

  • Chen Feng told Dugu Bo that consuming two Immortal Herbs of extreme cold and heat could purge his toxins completely, but also remove his poison techniques.
  • Dugu Bo rejected complete purging and asked about controlling the toxins instead.
  • Chen Feng described storing toxins in soul bones as a temporary measure, then suggested strengthening Dugu Bo’s Martial Soul to control them at the source.
  • Dugu Bo said he believed his Martial Soul could no longer evolve, but Chen Feng argued that the Immortal Herbs offered a chance to change it.
  • Chen Feng recommended the water element for controlling Dugu Bo’s poison, and Dugu Bo considered the proposal.

Ch. 50An Agreement

Chen Feng and Dugu Bo agreed on a plan to use Water-Attribute herbs to ease the poison affecting Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan. Dugu Bo would search for herbs and send Chen Feng blood samples until Dugu Yan reached her fourth soul ring, then return to fulfill his three promises if the plan worked.

  • Chen Feng explained that Water-Attribute herbs might ease Dugu Bo’s poison without weakening his poison techniques, and Dugu Bo welcomed the idea as a possible solution for himself and Dugu Yan.
  • Chen Feng cautioned that Water-Attribute Immortal Herbs would be difficult to find and suggested that Dugu Bo first experiment with lower-grade herbs to learn their properties.
  • Dugu Bo decided to travel across the continent searching for Water-Attribute herbs and planned for Dugu Yan to choose a Water- and Poison-Attribute Soul Beast for her second soul ring.
  • Chen Feng asked Dugu Bo to draw and preserve blood while consuming Water-Attribute herbs, then send it through Grandmaster so Chen Feng could study the effects.
  • Dugu Bo agreed to send the blood and set a deadline: he would return when Dugu Yan obtained her fourth soul ring, around seven or eight years later, if Chen Feng’s plan worked.
  • Chen Feng and Dugu Bo shook hands to seal their agreement.

Ch. 51Strange Gem

Sister Xiao Wu returned to the Star Dou Great Forest, then decided to go back to the academy after finding a storage Soul Tool. She discovered a strange blood-red gem among Da Ming’s collection, and touching it transported her to a desolate land beneath a Crimson Moon, where a silver-white wolf appeared.

  • Sister Xiao Wu sat by the lake with Da Ming and told him she had come back to find Soul Tools.
  • Da Ming brought out a pile of collected items, and Sister Xiao Wu chose three Storage Soul Tools.
  • Sister Xiao Wu felt drawn to a blood-red gem and asked Da Ming about it; he did not recognize it and let her take it.
  • When Sister Xiao Wu touched the gem, she appeared in a desolate land beneath a Crimson Moon and began walking toward it.
  • A wolf howl snapped Sister Xiao Wu out of her trance, and she saw a gigantic silver-white wolf watching her.

Ch. 52Ding! The Good Guy Card

Xiao Wu returned to the Star Dou Great Forest with a Blood-red Gem that held moonlight power, unaware that a silver-white giant wolf had erased her memories of meeting it. At Nuoding Academy, Chen Feng declined the Star Luo Empire's invitation while affirming his friendship with Dai Mubai and his ties to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.

  • A silver-white giant wolf touched Xiao Wu's brow, warned that she had nearly been corrupted, and sent her back to the lake with her memories erased.
  • Xiao Wu found herself by the lake holding the Blood-red Gem and decided to stay in the forest for a few more days.
  • Chen Feng told Chen Xin that Dugu Bo had left after discussing Dugu Yan's soul ring plan and his search for Water Attribute herbs.
  • Chen Feng declined the Star Luo emperor's invitation, explaining that he wanted to remain near his grandfather and would not live long-term at the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.
  • Chen Feng asked the Star Luo delegation to call him Mister, and they agreed to report his answer to the emperor.

Ch. 53The Chen Clan's Past

Chen Xin and Ning Fengzhi told Chen Feng that he was likely descended from Chen Xin’s grandfather’s younger brother, Chen Yang, whose unusual Sword Spirit led to a family tragedy. They revealed that Chen Yang’s Demonic Sword devoured the souls of sect disciples, and that he had seemingly allowed the sect to discover what he was doing.

  • After Grandmaster, Flender, and Xiao San left, Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin brought Chen Feng to Grandmaster’s room for a private conversation.
  • Chen Xin said Chen Feng was likely descended from his grandfather’s younger brother, Chen Yang, and revealed that their great-grandfather had killed Chen Yang.
  • Chen Xin explained that Chen Yang awakened a Sword Spirit capable of controlling souls, while Chen Xun and Chen Yang were celebrated as talented young swordsmen.
  • As Chen Yang’s cultivation grew, he became withdrawn and cold, though his cultivation speed continued to increase.
  • After Chen Yang married, sect disciples began dying without wounds, and the investigation revealed that his Demonic Sword had devoured their souls.
  • Ning Fengzhi said they later realized Chen Yang had been discovered so quickly because his subconscious had been crying out for help.

Ch. 54A Sigh-Worthy Past

Chen Xin and Ning Fengzhi told Chen Feng how Ancestor Chen Yang’s Demonic Sword corrupted him and forced his family to kill him. They explained that Chen Yang’s pregnant wife left the sect with their child after learning the truth, and Chen Feng learned that he had not awakened the same martial soul.

  • Ning Fengzhi explained that Chen Yang’s subconscious left clues after his crimes, allowing his father to discover his corruption.
  • Chen Xin said Chen Yang went alone to the Death Desert to seek a hundred-thousand-year Azure Flame Blade Ghost King and, unknowingly, to give his family a chance to stop him.
  • Chen Yang ambushed the sect’s experts, and his father fatally struck him with the Seven Kill Sword after deciding he could not be saved.
  • Before dying, Chen Yang regained his sanity, revealed that consumed souls affected his mind, and described a possible way to resist the Demonic Sword.
  • Chen Yang’s wife learned the truth after giving birth and left the sect with their child, whom Great-Grandfather failed to find.
  • Chen Xin reassured Chen Feng that his martial soul was not the Demonic Sword, while Chen Feng privately thought of the yin fish in his Taiji diagram.

Ch. 55Ning Fengzhi's Gift

Chen Feng learned more about his jade pendant and accepted gifts and support from Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin. After they discussed the danger from the Fallen Ones, they agreed on discreet protection while Chen Feng remained in Nuoding City.

  • Chen Feng told Chen Xin that he planned to stay in Nuoding City and explained that Tang San and Xiao Wu were his friends.
  • Ning Fengzhi explained that Chen Feng's Ten Thousand Year Spirit Condensing Jade helped calm the mind and revealed that Chen Xin held its matching pendant.
  • Ning Fengzhi gave Chen Feng a Storage Soul Tool and arranged a jewelry shop in Nuoding City as a secret contact point for help and Thesis submissions.
  • Chen Xin gave Chen Feng a booklet of sword-practice insights and urged him to develop swordsmanship suited to his own martial soul.
  • Chen Xin explained that Tang Hao had dealt with the Fallen Ones who attacked the academy and had agreed to watch over Chen Feng and Tang San.
  • Chen Feng proposed that the sect protect him secretly when he returned during holidays, and Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin agreed.

Ch. 56Thoughts on the Yin Sword Form

Chen Feng struggled with whether awakening his Yin Sword form might turn him into an Evil Spirit Master, then postponed the decision. Meanwhile, Grandmaster and Flender arranged to give Tang San Earth Flame Dragon Beast blood for San Pao.

  • Chen Feng learned that his ancestor Chen Yang had been an Evil Spirit Master who could devour souls, and suspected the Yin Sword form might be his ancestor’s Demonic Sword.
  • Chen Feng weighed the danger of awakening the Yin Sword against the possibility that it would be harmless, then decided to leave the choice to his future self.
  • Grandmaster and Flender took Tang San to the academy cafeteria, where Tang San gave them privacy to talk.
  • Flender produced five jars of treated Ten Thousand Year Earth Flame Dragon Beast blood and told Grandmaster to feed it to San Pao.

Ch. 57Flender, God of Card Draws!

Flender told Grandmaster about Oscar, a Food System Soul Master with Innate Full Soul Power, and Ma Hongjun, whose Mutated Phoenix flames were impure. After reading Xiao Feng’s Foundation Building Method, Flender agreed to seek a Fire Swallowing Crocodile soul ring to help purify Hongjun’s flames.

  • Flender and Grandmaster discussed the talented children in their care, and Flender explained that Oscar was an orphan he had adopted whose Food God martial soul awakened with Innate Full Soul Power.
  • Flender described Ma Hongjun’s Mutated Phoenix and his unusually hot, adhesive flames, which seemed to contain something harmful.
  • Grandmaster gave Flender a newspaper containing Xiao Feng’s Foundation Building Method, and Flender read that it could help address Hongjun’s flame problem.
  • Grandmaster recommended a Fire Swallowing Crocodile as Hongjun’s Fire Attribute Foundation Ring, and Flender agreed to pursue it.

Ch. 58Adjusting the Plan

Chen Feng and the Grandmaster discovered that Earth Flame Dragon Beast blood made Luo Sanpao happy, giving them hope that its condition and the Grandmaster’s cultivation bottleneck could improve. After assessing his deal with Dugu Bo and the gains from his operation, Chen Feng decided to build his future organization around Shrek Academy.

  • Sword Douluo Chen Xin and Ning Fengzhi returned to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, while Flender went back to Shrek Academy.
  • The Grandmaster fed Luo Sanpao Earth Flame Dragon Beast blood, and Chen Feng learned that Sanpao’s reaction suggested the blood could help it.
  • Chen Feng asked the Grandmaster to receive future blood from Dugu Bo on his behalf, and the Grandmaster saw hope of breaking through his level-twenty-nine bottleneck.
  • Chen Feng reviewed his gains, including his agreement with Dugu Bo and keeping his identity hidden during the operation.
  • Chen Feng chose Shrek Academy, with the Golden Iron Triangle intact, as the foundation for his plans to build a new force.

Ch. 59Xiao Wu Returns

Chen Feng focused on improving his strength and building toward his goal of becoming Shrek's second headmaster. After Xiao Wu returned from the Star Dou Great Forest with Storage Soul Tools for him and Tang San, Chen Feng showed her the ring Ning Fengzhi had given him and revealed its name.

  • Chen Feng planned to strengthen his combat skills by practicing sword fundamentals and training with his Tai Chi Bagua Sword.
  • After three days of training, Xiao Wu returned from the Star Dou Great Forest and greeted Chen Feng and Tang San in the Small Grove.
  • Xiao Wu gave Chen Feng and Tang San two Storage Soul Tools, surprising them with her sudden access to such valuable items.
  • Chen Feng noticed the different-colored rings Xiao Wu wore and imagined gathering ten people with matching rings for a group.
  • Chen Feng showed Xiao Wu his Red Ring and told her he planned to call it Blood Sky Vault.

Ch. 60Blood Sky Vault, Jade Snow Ice, and White Cloud Smoke

Xiao Wu gave Tang San a Storage Soul Tool, showed Chen Feng a moonlight-rich pendant, and learned that Chen Feng had turned down Sword Douluo’s offer to return to the sect. Meanwhile, Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin returned to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, where Gu Rong told them Rongrong had been asking for them.

  • Xiao Wu named the three rings Earth Kunlun, Jade Snow Ice, and White Cloud Smoke, then persuaded Tang San to accept Jade Snow Ice.
  • Tang San thanked Xiao Wu and resolved to share any good finds with her and Chen Feng in the future.
  • Xiao Wu showed Chen Feng a Blood-red Gem pendant that she said contained moonlight power.
  • Chen Feng explained that Sword Douluo had taken him as a disciple, but he had stayed with Xiao Wu and Tang San; Xiao Wu asked whether Sword Douluo would return, then dropped the subject.
  • Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin returned to the Council Hall, where Gu Rong told them Rongrong had been asking when they would come back.
  • Rongrong ran into the Council Hall and threw herself into Ning Fengzhi’s arms.
