Gu Ding landed steadily atop the city wall, less than a meter from the gate.
A captain of the guards beside Eddard drew his sword, preparing to attack Gu Ding, but Eddard raised a hand to stop him.
"He's here to help!"
Though he did not know why himself, Eddard chose to trust Gu Ding.
From where Gu Ding stood, as a mage, if he had chosen to help the White Walkers, he could have easily destroyed the iron lock on the gate. With the strength of those Corpse Demons, the Human Race Camp would have been unable to stop them at all.
Gu Ding's gaze fell upon the Corpse Demons below as he pressed one hand downward through the air.
"Gravity Field, activate!"
The moment his voice fell, the Corpse Demons within a radius of roughly fifty meters suddenly slowed.
"Flame Storm!"
Gu Ding extended his other hand, and a golden storm surged forth, sweeping across an area of more than a hundred meters like a tidal wave. Everywhere it passed, the Corpse Demons were engulfed in flames, collapsing one after another and turning into drifting ash.
This was a composite spell of fire and wind magic, which was why its coverage was so astonishing.
With that single attack, Gu Ding slaughtered nearly a thousand Corpse Demons, leaving Eddard and the others dumbfounded.
Jon took a long while to recover.
"Is this lord an Advanced Mage?!"
The captain of the guards who had intended to attack Gu Ding immediately changed his attitude. In his view, anyone capable of slaughtering a thousand enemies in one strike had to be an Advanced Mage of at least Level 7.
But Gu Ding was actually only a Level 5 Mage. Neither his spiritual power nor the strength of his spells had reached the
