Having subdued the White Walkers, Gu Ding turned and looked up at the city walls.

King Robert and the others were uneasy, but most of the defenders fell to their knees before Gu Ding, murmuring prayers of blessing. They had completely come to believe that Gu Ding was a god.

The remaining dozen or so people, including Robert and Eddard, merely watched Gu Ding in silence, unsure of what to do.

King Robert was tall and powerfully built, though slightly out of shape, with a huge beard covering his face. He had never been much of a believer. Otherwise, he would not have rebelled and seized the throne in the first place. But faced with Gu Ding, even he could not help feeling uneasy, because the power Gu Ding had displayed was already beyond the realm of humanity.

Gu Ding slowly rose into the air until he was level with Robert and the others on the wall, then spoke.
