Gu Ding and Elizabeth walked slowly through the corridor.
After the Life Gate opened, it revealed a dim corridor. Every hundred meters or so, a glowing crystal was embedded in the walls, but its light was faint, illuminating less than two meters around it. With more than a hundred meters between each crystal, the entire corridor seemed exceedingly dark.
The two had been walking for over half an hour without reaching the end. They did not dare fly or teleport, fearing there might be traps invisible even to Pupil Techniques, so they could only proceed on foot.
"How long is this corridor, exactly? At our pace, we should have covered at least seven or eight kilometers in half an hour. What would be the point of building a corridor like this? Even their own people would find it inconvenient..." Gu Ding was baffled.
"Wait, stop walking!" Elizabeth suddenly called out to Gu Ding.
"What is it?"
Gu Ding thought Elizabeth had discovered another trap. He immediately halted and scanned the surroundings with his black pupils, but found nothing.
"What you just said reminded me—there's something wrong with this corridor!" Elizabeth said.
"Normally, the Life Gate would be where members of this Military Base entered and exited. The designer would only want to speed up their entry and exit as much as possible to improve efficiency. They would never place a corridor dozens or even hundreds of kilometers long at an entrance like this. That would only inconvenience their own people."
"You mean we've most likely been going in circles all along, and the real exit has been hidden!" Gu Ding immediately understood.
"That's right. This should be an Entrapment Formation or an illusion formation. It probably activated the moment we opened the Life Gate, which is why neither of us
