He was a human man, thin and tall, with gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose and a faintly scholarly air about him. He did not look like someone who had ever been infected by a virus.

"Is this the guy controlling those monsters?" Liliath found it hard to believe. If she had not just seen him rush out of the shipyard in the video, she would have assumed he was merely a passerby. "He doesn't look like he's ever been virus-infected."

"He should be considered a relatively successful case of evolution." Gu Ding curled his lip. He had to admit that the man was fairly handsome, refined and scholarly in appearance. That probably had something to do with his profession before he was infected. After being infected, though, he was no longer truly the person he had once been. He was a puppet body controlled by the virus. Though he had evolved to this point and regained part of his memories and consciousness, his true self had actually died long ago—when the virus invaded his brain.

The man swept his gaze around the area. After failing to find any trace of an enemy, he turned his attention to the corpses of the giant beasts, his eyes briefly passing over their wounds.

A moment later, he finally found the fatal wounds on all four corpses—the large holes in their chests. He bent down to inspect them carefully, and when he finished, the corners of his lips lifted slightly.

In an instant, he had determined that his opponent was not particularly strong.

Aside from the fatal chest wounds, the injuries the opponent had left on the giant beasts were not severe. That meant that before the opponent's burst of power, their strength had likely been on par with these giant beasts, not
