At the same time, elsewhere, Wu Teng and Dian Huang had safely made their way onto a broad road. They had overcome every difficulty along the way, but upon reaching this point, they both sensed that something was off.
"We should be heading toward the center?" Dian Huang analyzed. "We haven't encountered anyone along the way. The four squads were scattered apart, so if we were going to run into anyone, it could only happen as we got closer together. Wandering around like headless flies definitely won't work, so I'm guessing the valley where we first appeared was at the edge of this area."
"I think so too. The central area should be the endpoint." Wu Teng nodded. "First come the minor trials, keeping us from meeting too easily. Then the distances close in, and finally, the squads fight each other."
"Exactly. But two people have already been eliminated, which really surprises me." Thinking of the synthesized system voice from not long ago, Dian Huang frowned. "Have we been taking things too leisurely? Have they already started fighting?"
"Yeah, you two really are slow."
A strange voice suddenly cut in, sounding directly behind them!
The two were startled at the same time and instinctively reached for their weapons as they turned around. But before they could draw them, another peculiar sound rang out.
Squelch!
Wu Teng then watched in stunned disbelief as Dian Huang's body slowly collapsed beside him. His fingers were still gripping the sword hilt, not having had time to draw it. His head had only turned thirty degrees, and he had yet to see who had ambushed them from behind.
Blood gushed from the back of his neck in torrents. It was clearly a one-hit kill!
"Remaining participants: five."
