The Defense Team at the rear of the formation, however, had faced numerous and serious problems at first. All sorts of chaotic situations arose almost every day, especially whenever a zombie horde appeared. Their group would often be left far behind the main force ahead.
Yet through this constant process of adjustment and adaptation, the Defense Team changed drastically over the following week. Chu Han provided them no help whatsoever during that time, and the Black Radiance Squad members were all remarkably unconcerned. Unless someone was about to lose their life in the next second, they would not intervene. The rest of the time, they simply left them entirely to their own devices.
Thus, under these nearly desperate circumstances, where they had no choice but to grow on their own, these five hundred people underwent a complete transformation in just one week.
At first, they had responded in panic whenever zombie hordes attacked. After every battle, they could not rest and had to hurry after the forces ahead. But now, the Defense Team had developed its own unique fighting style. No matter how many zombies charged at them, they remained calm. Their distance from the main force ahead gradually shrank as well, until they only needed to make up a short stretch. They even left people behind along the way to prevent anyone from falling behind.
Though this was only a good beginning, and these recruits had not yet become a Wolf Fang Defense Team truly capable of taking the battlefield, they had found their direction during that week.
Their sole purpose was defense, rather than the killing and
