The two guards at the supply camp huddled inside the small gatehouse. Life was not easy in the bitter winter, and watching over these supplies all day was monotonous, but compared with the suffering survivors, they at least had no worries about food or clothing. As long as they did not waste the ammunition, no one could stop them from secretly taking food and heating supplies for themselves.
Just like now, the two had lit a fire in the room to keep warm, wrapped themselves in thick winter clothes, and held hot tea in their hands.
"I wonder when these days will finally end." One guard complained. Ever since he had started guarding this place, he made nearly the same complaint every day.
"Be content." The other rolled his eyes. "Once those regiments get here, we will not even get the chance to eat and drink well here. Don't forget, the supplies originally assigned to us did not include any of this."
"It would be better if they came. Once they finish collecting everything, we can leave." As he spoke, the man suddenly looked out the window in surprise. "No way, speak of the devil?"
"They're here? Which regiment?"
"Let's go take a look. It seems to be an advance unit."
The two hurriedly set down what they were holding, put on ingratiating expressions, and walked outside. The moment they stepped out, they shivered from the cold. At that moment, a force of several hundred people was racing toward the gate at astonishing speed.
"They're so fast!" one guard exclaimed in surprise.
"Are they all New Humans? Their ranks look pretty high!" The other was filled with envy. "They're wearing so little. Their resistance to the cold is incredible."
"They must at least be Rank Four, right?" As soon as
