Shut up???
Jia Chunjie's face turned from pale to green, then to black. He stared coldly at Chu Han, a surge of malevolence rising from his heart. Chu Han actually told him to 'shut up'?
He had even helped them get the iron mesh for their car. He was a cook, yes, but even a cook should get paid, right? Yet he ate less than Chen Shaoye! Chu Han was wary of him, and by extension, the other three were also wary of him. It was obvious that he was never included in discussions about any matters or plans.
Damn it! What was so great about Chu Han, just because his combat skills were a bit better?
Jia Chunjie naturally didn't know that Chu Han had the Reforging System. Relying on the system, he could directly and clearly understand the loyalty of the people in the team, and Jia Chunjie's loyalty was always zero.
Jia Chunjie hid his emotions and smiled falsely, "Yes, yes, I shouldn't bother you."
"We're getting off the highway." A hint of anticipation and ambition flashed in Chu Han's eyes. He was so many days ahead of schedule; he had to be the first to find that airdrop package.
Ange Town, it was a very small town, but no matter how small, based on China's large population base, Ange Town had a population of over 100,000.
Even with a minimum population of 100,000, that meant there were 80,000 zombies!
To save fuel, the group abandoned two cars. The five of them sat together in the G55 driven by Chu Han. The car was spacious, and the food in the back seat had long been consumed. It was just right for five people.
Chu Han drove the car quietly and slowly onto the road leading into Ange Town. On both sides were various small shops, all with their doors tightly shut. Occasionally, a door was open, but inside were horrifying scenes, with human bones and blackened bloodstains everywhere. The entire road outside was also littered with dismembered limbs and severed arms. The whole town was very quiet, desolate.
The stench was particularly strong in this small town.
"Why do we have to come here?" Shang Jiudi looked at Chu Han with great confusion. "We can get food and gasoline without entering the town."
Chu Han avoided the question. He couldn't possibly say he was from the future and knew there would be an airdrop package here?
"Heh!" Jia Chunjie grinned coldly. "Making decisions without considering the safety of your companions. Although you are the leader of this team, you can't force us to go to our deaths, can you? You don't even need to think to know how many zombies are here!"
Chu Han said calmly, "You can get out of the car. No one is forcing you."
"The car?" Jia Chunjie retorted coldly. "This is the only car left. Are you asking me to get out here and get bitten to death by zombies?"
"You were the one who insisted on following back then." Chu Han glanced at him from the rearview mirror, his gaze shifting to the two women and Chen Shaoye who hadn't spoken. "We'll find a hotel, clear out the zombies, and stay there first, then look for vehicles and food. You can do as you please then, whether you stay or go."
He was referring to Shang Jiudi, Eighteen, and Jia Chunjie. Chen Shaoye, whose loyalty had reached 90%, would not leave, and Chu Han himself, his goal was only the airdrop package anyway.
"Go where!" Eighteen glared at Jia Chunjie. The young girl's innocent face was very firm. "I'll follow you until we get to Shi City!"
Shang Jiudi withdrew her gaze from the horrifying scene outside the window. Her complexion was a bit poor. "I have no objections."
Jia Chunjie was immediately choked. He didn't have a good impression of Chu Han, but he wanted to go to Shi City using Chu Han's abilities. If he left alone, he would encounter a lot of danger.
"Hey Chu Ge, I'm just scared!" Jia Chunjie quickly changed his tone. "I'm afraid everyone will be in danger. I still want to follow you."
"Whatever you want." Chu Han didn't care whether Jia Chunjie stayed or left. If he followed, he would continue to be a follower and a cook; if not, he could scram.
Carefully avoiding areas where zombies were gathered, Chu Han found a dilapidated small hotel. The sign that read 'Morning Light Hotel' hung precariously above. Several zombies in work clothes were wandering around the open door. In a corner, there was a carcass, and a female zombie was licking it incessantly on the ribs.
"Ugh—" Chen Shaoye let out a small sound of nausea. He turned his face away, unable to watch any longer. It was too disgusting.
"Get out of the car." Chu Han parked the car in the quiet parking lot behind the small hotel. He showed no reaction to the horrifying scene up close; he was already used to it.
"Are we going to stay here?" Jia Chunjie's face was full of disgust. "Can't we find a better place? Although this town is small, there must be a three-star hotel, right? Or a two-star would be fine! I couldn't stay in nice places when I didn't have money, but now that I don't have any worries, you find such a place? And it's so disgusting!"
After parking, Chu Han gripped his axe tightly and looked at him emotionlessly. "As I said, if you have an opinion, you can get lost."
The location was very bad. In the civilized era, it would probably be a place that wouldn't even get business and would just close down. But in the apocalypse, such places were the safest. Fewer people, no business, meant fewer zombies.
Of course, Chu Han had no obligation and no patience to explain to someone whose loyalty was only zero.
Chen Shaoye, Shang Jiudi, and Eighteen didn't speak. They followed Chu Han out of the car, each holding different weapons.
"Damn it!" Jia Chunjie cursed softly, and then added where Chu Han couldn't hear, "What an idiot!"
The group moved silently, without making a sound, slowly approaching the hotel entrance.
This hotel was really small, only two stories. Upon entering, a pungent stench hit their faces, the smell of zombies.
There were a few zombies in the first-floor lobby, and the back door Chu Han chose led directly to the stairs. Without a word, he stepped onto the stairs, ignoring the few scattered zombies on the first floor.
"Not killing them?" Chen Shaoye asked nervously, following behind him.
Chu Han shook his head, put a finger to his lips to shush him, and then proceeded to the second floor.
After going up to the second floor, there was a dim corridor, only two meters wide. The dark red carpet made it impossible to tell if it was blood or the carpet's color. There were no zombies, but the stench was strong. On both sides, every few meters, there were closed wooden doors. There were no lights, and dim light shone in through the narrow windows, casting the foul-smelling corridor in a somewhat eerie light.
Chu Han's footsteps walked silently on the carpet. As he passed each room, he would pause for a moment, listening carefully outside the door or discerning the smell.
Jia Chunjie, following behind, looked dismissive. What was there to be vigilant about? Could standing outside a door for a while reveal anything?
Suddenly, Chu Han's footsteps stopped. He stood in front of a door that was uneven. He gripped his axe and let it hang by his side, then with a powerful thrust of his thigh—
Bang!
He kicked the door open!
Thank you for the reward, little beauty Meng Douzi!!
