The scene outside was already apocalyptic. Most of the few cars on the road had crashed into each other, smoke billowing everywhere. The roadsides were littered with corpses and bloodstains.

Chu Han felt incredibly fortunate that he had managed to get out immediately. Not only was the road clear, but there weren't too many zombies either. Occasionally, zombies would chase after Chu Han's car, but they were quickly left far behind.

Driving, Chu Han glanced down below the steering wheel, his brow furrowed. There was only one bar of fuel left, nowhere near enough!

Where was the gas station? Chu Han had long forgotten the map of Mingqiu City from ten years ago. He could only head towards the highway as quickly as possible, as gas stations were usually located on highways.

Chu Han drove very fast, partly out of urgency and partly because, if not now, then when?

Less than five kilometers onto the highway, he found a gas station. Chu Han's eyes narrowed slightly because he saw that the convenience store at the gas station was locked tight. These kinds of convenience stores were usually open twenty-four hours, so a closed door clearly indicated human intervention.

Across the gas station, a net cafe, however, had its doors wide open. A group of zombies was gathered together, milling around in circles towards the center. Inside, zombies were hunched over a mangled corpse, tearing at it ferociously.

The sound of Chu Han's approaching car was quite loud. Hearing the noise, the zombies that couldn't be sated finally found new prey. They all converged towards the car in unison, baring their teeth.

Zombies, many of them.

They let out roars more terrifying than those of vengeful spirits. When they were very close, Chu Han could easily see the stiff yet subtle expressions on their filthy faces. In their pupil-less, gray-white eyes, there was a sense of urgency.

Without much thought, Chu Han turned the car and charged into the zombie horde, accelerating. Bang, bang, bang!

Inside the convenience store, four survivors hid, their eyes wide with fear as they listened to the commotion outside.

A large SUV was repeatedly smashing into zombies, its body smeared with dark brown, decaying flesh.

Zombies were sent flying, instantly turning into pulp. The road was soon covered in pale, rotting remains. These infected, however, knew no fear or evasion, surging forward relentlessly. Even with limbs broken, they still dragged their bodies across the ground, leaving trails of decaying flesh and black blood.

All four of them wore expressions of shock. The apocalypse had only broken out for an hour, and who dared to drive on the road and fight zombies? However, the car's quality was truly excellent; even with so many zombies swarming it, the impact was devastating.

"Who is that?" asked a middle-aged man named Fan Wei, an employee at the gas station.

The other two were a young couple. The man was Zhang Ziyu, who looked to be around twenty years old, and the woman was Gu Xiaotong, who looked young but wore heavy makeup.

The last one was a fat man weighing at least 190 pounds. He was cowering in a corner, too scared to look up. The constant roars of zombies outside made him tremble uncontrollably, and he even started crying from fear.

"So annoying!" Zhang Ziyu cursed irritably.

Yesterday, he and Gu Xiaotong had been playing at the net cafe opposite all night. They came to the convenience store around 5 AM to buy something to eat, but then they suddenly lost consciousness. When they woke up, the world had changed drastically, and the three of them were trapped here.

There was no sign of rescue. It seemed all the humans in the world had turned into these monsters. Seeing the G55 charge out and smash into the zombies, Zhang Ziyu's mind suddenly became active.

This person was incredibly bold and a skilled driver. Perhaps they were police, and could lead them out of here!

He turned to Fan Wei, who was calmer, "Do you have a car? I think this is an opportunity. This person seems very capable and brave. Should we follow him and leave?"

"I'm not leaving! I'm not leaving! There's food and water here. I'm not going!" the heavily made-up young woman shook her head desperately.

"If you don't want to go, then stay here. I didn't say I was taking you!" Zhang Ziyu was very firm, and he also felt he was very smart for analyzing the situation. Especially when he saw someone already taking action, his desire to leave grew even stronger.

This was the end of the world! The entire world was in chaos. Phones wouldn't turn on, calls couldn't be made, all electronic devices were paralyzed. Most importantly, Mingqiu City had no military district. He wouldn't stay here; it was too unsafe.

"How can you leave me alone? Don't you love me anymore?" Gu Xiaotong asked, very disappointed.

"The apocalypse has come, who the hell is talking about love? Everyone's just trying to survive!" Zhang Ziyu said irritably, then pointed at the crying, snot-nosed fat man in the corner gnawing on a salted duck. "You can stay here with this useless guy!"

Fan Wei interrupted their argument, "Stop arguing. I have a car. He's probably here to refuel. Let's ask him when he comes over."

"Okay, let's go! You move the stuff, I'll go talk to him," the young man Zhang Ziyu said, shaking off his girlfriend who was trying to hold onto him.

Chu Han continuously drove in circles on the road until all the zombies that had emerged from the net cafe were smashed. When no other zombies appeared, he drove into the gas station, parked the car next to the fuel tank, and got out. His right hand still tightly gripped the iron axe as he refueled the car, his nerves on high alert.

Seeing that there were no more zombies outside, Zhang Ziyu immediately opened the convenience store door and quickly ran towards Chu Han.

"Hello, my name is Zhang Ziyu. Which direction are you heading? How about we team up? It'll be safer. Don't worry, we have a car too," Zhang Ziyu spoke at the fastest possible speed, only reaching Chu Han as he finished speaking.

Zhang Ziyu? Chu Han looked up, suddenly finding the name somewhat familiar.

Chu Han had known someone was running out for a while but hadn't paid attention because the person's footsteps were erratic and unsteady, lacking any aggressive intent.

His mind was still stuck in the post-apocalyptic decade. He couldn't trust people. When facing zombie hordes, many would push their companions aside to survive. In the face of survival instincts, reason and morality would completely disappear.

Seeing Chu Han look up, when that face entered his eyes, Zhang Ziyu froze in disbelief, his voice catching in his throat, almost making him choke. "Chu, Chu, Chu Han?!"

Chu Han's gaze swept over him, confirming he posed no threat, and then he continued to refuel the car.

Zhang Ziyu, meanwhile, looked Chu Han up and down with shock several times, his gaze lingering the longest on the axe in his hand, which still had dark bloodstains on it.

"You, how did you...?" Zhang Ziyu suddenly didn't know how to ask, or what to ask.

He never imagined that the person he considered incredibly imposing, someone he associated with police or special forces, would actually be his college classmate.

How was this possible?!

"Chu Han?" Suddenly, Gu Xiaotong, who was inside the store, also ran out and shouted excitedly, "Chu Han! Is that you?!"

"Shut up!" Chu Han's expression immediately turned ferocious and terrifying as he glared fiercely at the woman.

Zombies had hearing. How could she dare to shout so loudly!

Startled by Chu Han's killing intent, Gu Xiaotong shivered. Zhang Ziyu also snapped back to reality instantly. Their expressions were identical: stunned and disbelieving.

"Chu Han! How can you talk to me like that! Don't you want to live!" Gu Xiaotong yelled furiously. When had anyone ever spoken to her like that?

Gu Xiaotong's voice was completely unrestrained, almost a scream at the highest volume, as if trying to express her inner anger in this way.

Chu Han suddenly raised his eyes, the anger and killing intent in them reaching a peak. He had so carefully lured the zombies away and smashed them before daring to come and refuel. And this woman, as if she wanted to attract all the zombies here!

The woman first took two steps back in fear, then yelled at Chu Han again, "What are you doing!"

Just as the woman was about to continue expressing her anger, even slapping Chu Han to teach him a lesson, her expression suddenly changed rapidly, replaced by one of extreme terror.

"Ah—"

The woman's piercing scream suddenly rang out, incredibly high-pitched, sharp enough to shatter glass!

Roar!!

Two zombies appeared about ten meters away, dragging their stiff limbs, letting out excited growls from their mouths, their blackened, blood-stained hands flailing wildly in the air. Following the woman's cries, they quickened their pace towards them.

"Zombies! Zombies!" Zhang Ziyu was paralyzed with fear, slumping to the ground.

"Ah—" The woman's screams continued.

Chu Han's killing intent surged to its peak in an instant. He abruptly turned his head and kicked Gu Xiaotong with a powerful blow, showing no mercy, sending her flying a considerable distance!

Then, he said to Zhang Ziyu on the ground, "Control her, shut this woman up! If she screams again, you kill her!"

Killing was an extremely common thing for Chu Han. He didn't see anything wrong with it. If this woman continued to scream, it would attract more than just two zombies.

Chu Han gripped his axe, no longer paying attention to Zhang Ziyu and Gu Xiaotong. He stared intently at the two approaching zombies, his left hand still holding the oil gun as he refueled.

The two zombies had already reached him, no more than two meters away. A heavy stench of decay assaulted his nostrils as they opened their mouths wide.

Zhang Ziyu was completely stunned by fear. He trembled, his hand shaking, and stammered, "Zombies, the zombies are here!"

In Zhang Ziyu's eyes, Chu Han was absolutely insane. The zombies were only a meter away, and he was still refueling!

Gu Xiaotong also snapped out of her daze from the kick. She screamed again and rushed into the convenience store, slamming the door shut with a bang!

Zhang Ziyu suddenly turned his head, filled with regret for not listening to Chu Han and restraining Gu Xiaotong. She had actually locked them outside!
