The enormous research institute already occupied an immense area where Chu Han, He Shang, and the others were located, yet even so, Chu Han could not help feeling a chill in his heart. Beyond the fingerprint-locked door before him, he saw a staircase leading downward.
This meant that beneath the research department, there was still an enormous amount of space!
Just as Chu Han's heart sank, He Shang's voice rang clearly through the speakers under Guang Tou and Xie Ding's half-understanding yet admiring gazes. "Although the ground-level floor of the research department is monitored from my control room, and there are quite a few research projects of varying scales inside, I can use certain methods to bypass the authorization restrictions and open this door."
He Shang paused, then his voice suddenly turned grave. "But the system that truly controls this door is underground in the research department, somewhere we don't know. In other words, this door can only be controlled from the inside. Everything I do from outside only treats the symptoms, not the cause."
Chu Han frowned upon hearing this. "Have we been discovered?"
"No." He Shang's voice was firm. "That's the only thing I can guarantee. I'm certain they haven't discovered that I'm using an external system to control this door."
Chu Han keenly caught something amiss in He Shang's voice. "But there are other restrictions?"
"As expected of Boss, that's exactly what I was about to say. Boss, you absolutely have to remember this." He Shang drew a deep breath. "Since this is only a temporary external system, I can open this door only twice: once for you to enter, and once for you to leave."
Chu Han raised an eyebrow. "That's enough."
"The key problem is something else." He Shang's tone had never been so solemn.
