Wang Cai first accompanies Chu Han as a level-one rabbit connected to the Reforging System. It immediately pushes Chu Han to seek the ten Reforging Fragments and promises benefits once its “complete form” is restored. When it requests the name “Handsome Dude,” Chu Han instead names it Wang Cai; Wang Cai objects that it is a dog's name, then accidentally answers with a bark. 174 175

Its earliest role is logistical. Wang Cai serves as the gatekeeper of a Dimensional Space, storing the Wrangler and Asura Battle Axe for Chu Han, though it insists that the space belongs to Chu Han rather than itself. It also earns commissions from Chu Han's Reforging System expenditures, which it describes as energy and life needed to operate and recover. 176 1147

Wang Cai proves its value when it uses Reforging Fragments to save Chu Han's mother, Yuan Xiye. The treatment leaves her vegetative, but establishes that three fragments could fully restore her health within half a year. 305

Its true origin becomes increasingly uncertain after Bai Yun'er finds records of intelligent talking rabbits. The records identify gray rabbits as guardians, red rabbits as fighters, blue rabbits as administrators, and white rabbits as royalty.
