Shangguan Yuxin spun around almost instantly and ran with all her strength toward Shangguan Rong, who had already gone too far ahead to be seen. She had no idea what had happened, what the situation was, or why Chu Han was acting as if he faced a formidable enemy.

But Chu Han's words had to be obeyed without question, because ever since Shangguan Yuxin had met him, he had never been wrong!

Shangguan Yuxin's immediate action also jolted Huang Shuzhen awake. Though he was equally baffled, he instinctively ran to the queue to issue orders, while arguments with the guards at the city gate erupted without pause.

"Quick! Let everyone into the city!" Huang Shuzhen shouted, sweat pouring down his face.

"Are you crazy?! These people must be inspected one by one!" The guard looked at Huang Shuzhen as if he were insane. "If we just let them in, the base will fall into chaos! How are we supposed to handle them?"

Huang Shuzhen could not stay in one place and could only keep circling around. "It's an emergency. Settle everyone in the square first, then inspect them one by one."

"No!" The guard had reached the end of his patience. "Major General Huang, don't throw your weight around just because you're a major general! Most of these people are drifters. They can only be assigned to live in the Refugee District. How can they be allowed into the square in the main city?"

The guard's unrestrained words reached the survivors waiting in line, immediately triggering enormous dissatisfaction and dispute.

"What the hell? Looking down on us? Do we deserve to be refugees?"

"That's right! What makes you so special? You just got to Nandu Base earlier than us. What gives you the right to look down on people?"
