This past week had been especially slow for Nandu Base. Wave after wave of zombie hordes surged in like a bottomless pit, keeping the defensive forces at the gates in a constant state of battle. More and more residents within the base had voluntarily joined the fighting as well, because they knew that once the gates fell, the base would be finished. Everyone would die!

Of course, even more people chose to climb over the walls and leave, thinking they could be saved by escaping the base. But not long after getting out, they were swarmed by massive numbers of zombies appearing from nowhere and gnawed down to bare bones.

The entire base was surrounded by an enormous horde of zombies, completely cut off and without aid!

The gate passage that Chu Han had designated as the main battlefield a week ago was now utterly wrecked. The passage was piled high with zombie and human corpses. They were burned again and again while the defenders continued to hold the line. The land outside the gates had been blasted full of craters and turned into a muddy mess, with no trace left of its former prosperity.

Smoke drifted everywhere throughout the base, allowing the few residents who had lived there for a year to once again experience firsthand what the apocalypse truly meant.

There was no lasting peace, no absolute safety. Anywhere, at any time, a crisis capable of destroying an entire base could erupt.
