The slightly teasing voice echoed through the room, startling Frenda so badly that she toppled straight out of her chair.
After landing on the floor in a thoroughly undignified pose, she steadied her hat and rubbed her head, tears welling at the corners of her eyes. "Ugh! That hurt!"
Wait, who was talking just now?! Frenda hurriedly scrambled to her feet and warily scanned her surroundings, only to panic even more—there wasn't a single person here! Aside from herself and the still-unconscious Busu Dixin, there was no one in this cramped little room!
Immediately wondering whether something unclean was lurking in the room, Frenda's voice began to tremble. "Y-you, you, you... who are you? What kind of trick is this?!"
"Oh? I'm right behind you, though."
The voice had come from behind her! Frenda decisively spun around with a whip kick, but struck nothing but air. With too much force and nothing to brace against, she fell to the floor again.
"Hm? You don't look all that scared."
But the voice had clearly come from right there... Frenda swallowed. At such close range, she didn't think her ears could be malfunctioning. Could this really be some kind of ghost?! Frantically scooting backward, she only ended up pressed against the wall. Just as she was about to pull out a bomb, she remembered that she was in a tiny room—if a bomb went off in here, she'd be done for too!
No choice! Frenda gathered her courage and dashed to the alarm, frantically hammering the red button while shouting, "Someone! Help! Save me!"
To Frenda's surprise, the owner of the unknown voice did not stop her, allowing her to desperately call for help. Yet five seconds passed, then ten seconds... nearly
