The lobby manager finally approached, bracing himself. "Excuse me, do you have a reservation?" Ma Jian stood at the front, so the question was directed at her, but the manager's eyes kept darting toward Dong Xuebin behind them. His expression was slightly uneasy, and he could not figure out why they had come.
Ma Jian was silent for a moment before saying, "We're waiting for someone."
The lobby manager said, "Then would you like us to arrange accommodations and..."
"No, thank you," Ma Fei refused flatly.
The lobby manager looked around and could not say anything else. After giving Dong Xuebin one last quick look, he turned back and quietly gave a few instructions to a waiter, who immediately went upstairs. Before long, five additional hotel security guards had appeared, patrolling around the lobby. Every so often, they stared in Dong Xuebin's direction and exchanged information through their walkie-talkies, making quite a show of it.
Dong Xuebin was immediately annoyed. I haven't even done anything to you people. Why are you watching me? Are you sick? He had only just arrived, and so many people were already keeping tabs on him. With so many colleagues around, Dong Xuebin felt humiliated. Wasn't this ruining his image?
