The night was very quiet.

It was past ten. At this hour, most people had either gone to bed or were about to.
Dong Xuebin lay under Old Fang's blanket, watching Fang Wenping gulp down liquor with wide eyes. The speed was simply unbelievable. It was too dark to see clearly, but judging by the bottle, it seemed to be the white porcelain kind used for Moutai. The label looked similar under the moonlight too. That was baijiu—its alcohol content could not possibly be low. Fang Wenping had even said during dinner that her stomach hurt and that she would not drink. The more Dong Xuebin watched, the more worried he became.
"Sister Fang," Dong Xuebin called.
"..." Fang Wenping ignored him.
"Isn't your stomach bad?" Dong Xuebin asked.
"..." Fang Wenping kept drinking without a word.
After she had downed roughly half the bottle in one go, Dong Xuebin could not stand it anymore. He wanted to take the bottle from her. "I'll drink with you, then. Don't drink anymore."
But before he could grab it, Fang Wenping had already set the bottle on the Bedside Table. Then she turned, kicked off her slippers, and climbed into bed, burrowing beneath the covers again. This time, she did not turn her back to him. Instead, she lay flat on her back facing the ceiling, her eyes slightly narrowed.
Dong Xuebin scratched his head, unsure what to do. Seeing Old Fang drink like that made him uneasy, but he had more or less figured things out. After hesitating several times, he edged closer to Fang Wenping. When she did not react, he moved closer again until his whole body was pressed against her side. Then Dong Xuebin stopped hesitating. He quickly placed a hand
