A little after five in the afternoon.
On Peace Street, the sudden mishap caught everyone at Li's Restaurant completely off guard.
"What happened?"
"Hello? Hello? Why did the speakers go silent?"
"Why did the restaurant lights go out?"
"Did the breaker trip? Damn it!"
"The breaker didn't trip. It's still on... Looks like the power's out!"
The restaurant staff immediately ran around in a panic. It was dinner time, and there were plenty of diners. There were also many customers whom they had just loudly drawn in with the Loudspeaker. Nearly half the dining hall was full. The residents who had come to eat immediately became upset. The restaurant's lighting was poor to begin with. Though the sun had not yet set, the place was already dark inside. Once the lights went out, there was barely any light at all. How were they supposed to eat? And with the air conditioning off, the temperature inside began to rise bit by bit. Many people started shouting.
"What are you doing?"
"Are you going to let us eat or not?"
"Why is it so dark?"
Li Lu's face darkened. Why did the power have to go out now, of all times?
Still, everyone had seen power system failures before. A brief outage was nothing worth making a fuss over. At first, Li Lu and the other restaurant staff did not think much of it. They checked the time and waited for the power to come back on. Problems like this were generally fixed in a minute or two. Li Lu did not even make a call. If an entire area had lost power, he would not be the only one worried. There were many businesses here, so someone had surely reported it already.
