Outside the Operating Room.
Ten minutes... Half an hour... An hour... Liang Chengpeng and his wife waited anxiously alongside Dong Xuebin.
Creak. The Operating Room doors suddenly opened. Director Liang's wife shot to her feet, while Liang Chengpeng looked uneasily at Vice President Qin and the two department heads emerging from inside. "President Qin, how is my mother? The surgery..." Dong Xuebin stepped forward as well.
Vice President Qin gave them a reassuring look. "Don't worry. The surgery was a success."
Director Liang's wife suddenly collapsed into a chair, sobbing with joy.
Liang Chengpeng looked thrilled. He gripped Vice President Qin's hand and shook it hard. "Thank you, thank you."
Vice President Qin said to one of the department heads beside him, "Don't have the Intensive Care Unit nurses come move the bed. Arrange a single special-care room on the top floor for the old lady. Put my name down as the attending physician. She's still in the danger period for the next two days. If anything unusual happens during her stay, call me immediately." A single special-care room was not available to just anyone. Only Major Generals and above, or officials at the department level and above, likely received that kind of treatment. But Madam Han had already given the order, so Vice President Qin naturally could not afford to be careless.
Dong Xuebin said, "Sorry to trouble you."
Vice President Qin patted him on the shoulder. "It's nothing. The examination upstairs isn't finished yet. Come find us again in an hour."
Dong Xuebin knew he meant Madam Han's examination and nodded slightly.
When the nurses came to move the bed, the old lady was still awake. Her complexion looked quite good, and she even smiled at Liang Chengpeng and his wife. She did not look like someone who
