The agencies got off work.
Of course, this quitting time generally only applied to leaders. Ordinary staff members probably could not leave that early; they usually got off around five twenty or five thirty, sometimes even as late as six. With the Public Security Bureau family compound hit by such a major incident today, many departments had to work overtime temporarily to handle a pile of follow-up matters. Only Dong Xuebin, the patient, had much more free time than the others. He did not need to worry about anything else, only plan the renovation of the Agency Dormitory, so he had spent half the day fiddling with it in his office.
But this was clearly not Dong Xuebin's field.
Architecture, construction—what did he know about any of that? He was completely clueless.
In the end, Dong Xuebin figured it out. He was a County Leader, not a technical specialist. County Chief Jiang was right; he only needed to keep hold of the general direction. Others would handle the rest.
With one phone call, Dong Xuebin summoned Yao Cui.
"County Chief Dong, you wanted to see me?" Yao Cui entered the room.
Dong Xuebin said, "Have the County Government Office prepare a report on the dormitory renovation plan and budget. As soon as possible. I need it tomorrow."
Yao Cui nodded. "All right, I'll have them do it. Do you have any requirements?"
Dong Xuebin considered it. "Nothing much. Keep the budget within thirty million. Let me take a look when it's done, and we can make changes if needed."
"Okay, got it." With business concluded, Yao Cui smiled. "Xuebin, it's about time to get off work. Are you free tonight? Want to have dinner together?"
