The Jinx Was in Trouble Again!
Noon.
State Security Bureau Interrogation Room.
A police officer politely brought Dong Xuebin a boxed lunch. This was effectively putting Dong Xuebin under detention, and his phone had been confiscated long ago. After a while, Deputy Captain Feng and Qin Yong came by as well. Neither of them seemed to know what to say. They both knew that, no matter what, Dong Xuebin could not possibly have gotten into a shoving match with Li Hong, much less pushed her in front of the Jinbei Car. He certainly would not have deliberately killed someone. That was not something Dong Xuebin would do.
"Director Dong, sigh..." Feng Lei let out a sigh.
"Have a smoke first." Qin Yong handed Dong Xuebin a cigarette and lit it for him with a lighter.
Dong Xuebin took a hard drag and said gloomily, "I've really been cursed with bad luck these past two days. Every damn unlucky thing has happened to me. How's the investigation going?"
Feng Lei shook his head. "The driver didn't see anything. He ran after hitting her and only saw what seemed to be a man pushing Li Hong. The evidence collected at the scene only turned up fingerprints on the bag. We're canvassing the area now, trying to find witnesses, but it was before six in the morning—probably a little after five. The chances of finding witnesses are slim. A few households did hear that someone outside had been hit by a car, but no one seems to have heard Li Hong struggling with anyone."
Qin Yong said helplessly, "Brother Dong, how did your fingerprints end up on her bag?"
"Don't even mention it." Dong Xuebin had lost all desire to smoke. He tossed the cigarette to the floor and crushed it underfoot. "I
