"What game would you like to play, Tyou-san?"
After the farce, Yuuka had composed herself again and softly asked Zhao Yu.
However, her slightly reddened ears gave away how she was feeling. Yuuka had no idea how many viewers Zhao Yu had, assuming he was like any other major streamer.
Embarrassing herself in front of tens of thousands of people had sent Yuuka's shame soaring. The fact that she could still speak normally proved she was mentally strong.
"What games do you usually play, Yuuka?" Zhao Yu asked instead.
He knew Japan was famously barren when it came to online games. Console games were generally more popular there, so he wasn't sure what Yuuka played.
"As for me, I usually like action games such as Monster Hunter or Devil May Cry." Yuuka thought for a moment before answering.
[Another hunter! See, I told you girls play Monster Hunter too!]
[Damn it, why does the streamer get all the good stuff? I want a girl who plays Monster Hunter too!]
[Huh? Did someone say they were playing Monster Hunter? I main longsword. Wanna party up?]
[Get that cringe longsword player out of here! You're not welcome!]
[Is the streamer playing Monster Hunter? Looking forward to it.]
"Monster Hunter, huh? Sorry, I don't have a handheld console right now," Zhao Yu said after glancing at the Bullet Screen.
"Ah! I'm so sorry! I didn't take that into account!" Yuuka immediately apologized upon hearing that.
"It's fine. Do you play any online games, Yuuka? Preferably something we can team up in," Zhao Yu asked.
"Online games... would Overwatch work? I've been playing that lately." Yuuka considered it for a moment before speaking.
Overwatch, known domestically by the same name, was a team-based FPS made by Blizzard. It had remained fairly popular ever since its domestic servers opened in 2016.
However, Zhao Yu knew that it would gradually start declining after 2018. But what happened in the future had nothing to do with him now.
"No problem. Let's play that, then." Zhao Yu thought back and remembered that he seemed to have an Asia server account.
Back then, the domestic servers had not opened yet, so he had bought Overwatch on the Asia server to play it early.
But... why had he suddenly stopped playing later on? Zhao Yu couldn't remember the reason no matter how hard he tried, so he simply stopped thinking about it.
After searching around his desktop for quite a while, he finally found the Overwatch Asia server icon tucked away in a corner. As he double-clicked it, Yuuka's voice came through at just the right time.
"Let's add each other first, Tyou-san."
"Oh, okay. Send me your game ID." Zhao Yu spoke a little awkwardly. He was starting to regret picking such an outrageous ID.
"Okay, I'll send it right now." Yuuka didn't notice anything strange about him and quickly sent over her ID.
"It's still Yuuka. Don't tell me your real name is Yuuka too?" Zhao Yu asked suspiciously after seeing the private chat window on the companion-for-hire website.
"That's right. My real name is Yuuka." Perhaps because Zhao Yu seemed approachable, Yuuka didn't hide it and admitted it naturally.
"This is my first time seeing someone use their real name online." Zhao Yu's mouth twitched.
"Inter... act... Mom... Is Tyou-san's ID Chinese? What does it mean?" Yuuka struggled to make out Zhao Yu's Overwatch ID.
Oh no, the thing he feared most had happened. How was he supposed to explain this to a girl? An awkward expression appeared on Zhao Yu's face.
When the viewers saw Zhao Yu's ID, they immediately began roasting him as well.
["Interact With Me, Watch Out for Mom"? What an aggressive ID.]
[I knew it. Overwatch never lacks talent.]
[That's already considered restrained in Overwatch. I've seen someone named "I Knocked Up Roadhog's Belly."]
[Damn, bro is seriously starving!]
His mind raced, and Zhao Yu finally came up with a somewhat reasonable explanation. He said to Yuuka, "Yes, it's Chinese. It means asking after the enemy team's mother."
In a sense, that explanation wasn't exactly twisting the truth, was it?
[Pfft, hahaha! Streamer, you're a genius!]
[That actually doesn't sound wrong?]
"I see. Tyou-san is such a polite person. Even in a game, you never forget to interact with the other side in a friendly manner," Yuuka said with a nod, praising Zhao Yu.
Huh? She actually believed him? Zhao Yu was now certain that this girl wasn't pretending. She really was just that innocent.
Yuuka's utterly trusting expression amused the top donor who had sent Zhao Yu rockets again. Another string of rockets followed, and the stream's viewer count rose once more.
After thanking the top donor, Zhao Yu seriously began playing with Yuuka.
Zhao Yu and Yuuka were matched onto the attacking side. Since he had not touched the game in a long time, he chose Angel, a healer character for supporting teammates.
Yuuka, on the other hand, immediately picked McCree, a powerful offensive character, catching Zhao Yu by surprise. He had assumed that a girl with such a cute voice would probably play support characters too.
"Yuuka, are you sure you're okay with that character?" Zhao Yu asked worriedly.
"Don't worry. I'm a professional." Yuuka's voice was full of confidence.
Seeing that, Zhao Yu felt too embarrassed to keep doubting her. He could only enter the map with Yuuka while feeling somewhat uneasy.
This match was on Sakura Village, a fairly classic map, though it had become somewhat unfamiliar to Zhao Yu.
Before he had even gotten used to the map, Yuuka had already rushed to the objective that needed to be captured.
Zhao Yu only then slowly made his way toward the objective, but before he had taken more than a couple of steps, kill notifications appeared.
Yuuka eliminated Luna Yuuka eliminated sakura
Damn, was she really that good? Zhao Yu's eyes widened. Had he actually found a genuine carry this match?
[She's great at providing emotional value, and her skills are this good too? Is Japan's companion-for-hire scene this competitive?]
[Someone else's teammate. The difference is just ridiculous.]
[Why is the streamer's Angel running in circles? Even my grandma plays better than you.]
Seeing the mockery in the Bullet Screen, Zhao Yu decided it was time to show off a little as well. He controlled Angel and headed toward Yuuka.
But after only a few steps, a powerful wave of nausea surged up inside him, forcing him to stop moving.
"Urgh... damn it!"
No wonder he had stopped playing after only a short while. Zhao Yu finally remembered why.
He seemed to get motion sickness from 3D games. Every first-person game made him feel sick.
Oh no, was he about to embarrass himself? While Zhao Yu was still thinking, an enemy shot him. At critical health, he frantically searched for somewhere to hide from their pursuit.
[He drops the moment he peeks?]
[He's about as good as I am.]
"The streamer just... urgh... wasn't paying attention... urgh..." Zhao Yu stubbornly defended himself while trying to suppress the urge to vomit.
Yuuka had clearly heard what was happening on Zhao Yu's end. Although she could not understand Chinese, she could still sense that he was unwell.
"Are you okay, Tyou-san?" Yuuka asked with concern as she hurried toward Zhao Yu's location.
"I'm... fine... urgh... just a little uncomfortable," Zhao Yu said.
"It's okay, I'll be right there." Yuuka's voice was calm and steady, filled with a reassuring reliability. She was completely unlike the silly girl she had been moments ago.
