Looking at the stubbornly defiant shapeshifted demon before him, Gu An's memories were stirred.
He recalled the time he had spent with his eldest senior brother, Zhang Chunqiu. In his memories, Zhang Chunqiu had gone from young to old, encompassing the course of Zhang Chunqiu's life.
This shapeshifted demon was Zhang Chunqiu's son, Zhang Buku.
When they had first met, Zhang Buku had still been a youth. Now, he had grown up.
Seeing Zhang Buku in such a miserable state now, Eldest Senior Brother must have been heartbroken, right?
Gu An thought so, and his thoughts began to drift.
Zhang Buku's injuries had not been inflicted by him. Before Gu An stepped in, Zhang Buku had been bullied by the demons. When Gu An had been slaying demons earlier, Zhang Buku had rushed at him and been kicked to the ground. He had only barely managed to stand after every demon had died.
Judging from what those commoners had said, Zhang Buku had indeed done no evil.
But why did this kid seem so determined to die?
Gu An raised the Qinghong Sword in his hand, pointed it at him, and asked, "Do you truly wish to die?"
Zhang Buku did not hesitate. His expression twisted savagely as he lunged straight at Gu An.
Gu An gripped his sword in reverse and pressed the hilt against Zhang Buku's chest. His upper body leaned back with the motion, keeping Zhang Buku's hands from reaching him.
Before Zhang Buku could change tactics, Gu An removed his Mask and placed it over his face.
Zhang Buku instinctively stepped back, then took off the Mask and glared furiously at Gu An. Just as he was about to hurl the Mask at him, his eyes abruptly widened in astonishment.
"Uncle Gu...?"
Zhang Buku asked cautiously.
