Government and Society
- Star Luo was highly centralized: unlike Heaven Dou, it had no kingdoms or duchies within its borders, and its upper ranks appointed officials in its cities 308 599 1065.
- Competition among imperial princes was intended to select a powerful ruler. Zhou Qing regarded the succession process as exceptionally brutal 68 599.
- The empire had experienced multiple commoner rebellions before Spirit Hall began awakening Martial Souls for commoners free of charge 599.
- Its broad Imperial Roads served troop movements and also made trade between major cities easier 232.
Military and Foreign Policy
- Much of the tax revenue remaining after essential state expenses went to the military. Residents of major cities knew of the empire’s ambition to unify the Douluo Continent 333.
- Gengxin City supplied weapons and armor to the Star Luo army, including the royal family’s forces 128 807.
- The Clear Sky Sect supported Star Luo. After its return, its senior fighters and four affiliated clans strengthened the empire’s prospects for war; three sect elders became generals in the Star Luo army 996 1003.
- Star Luo invaded the Gulei Kingdom while Heaven Dou was fighting the Red Assembly, breaching Longxing City. A Peerless Douluo fighting on Star Luo’s side later killed 600,000 Heaven Dou soldiers there 1049 1066.
- The war ended without Star Luo unifying the continent. It lost Longyan, Antony, Hadrian, and Ericris provinces, leaving it with slightly more than half its original territory 1075.
History
Under Dai Tianran, the court regarded the Red Assembly’s ideals as a threat to its centralized rule and investigated its growth near the border 599 744. Dai Mubai later became crown prince after awakening the Evil Eye Holy King Martial Soul; Yu Xiaogang, his tutor, accompanied the Star Luo army as a strategist 995 1069.
After the war, Dai Mubai murdered Dai Tianran and took the throne. He and Yu Xiaogang framed Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun for the killing, forcing them to flee to Red Assembly territory 1077 1078. As emperor, Dai Mubai made Yu Xiaogang his Imperial Tutor. Their policies established schools and churches throughout Star Luo to teach loyalty to both men, promoted racial superiority, and rewrote the empire’s history to justify future conquest 1080.
Star Luo subsequently restricted outside contact, though it permitted land-route trade under strict conditions at the Soul Land Alliance Assembly 1108 1129. Its concentrated worship of Dai Mubai and Yu Xiaogang generated substantial faith for Dai Mubai, while the empire’s productivity saw little improvement 1114.
Following the disappearance of Dai Mubai and Yu Xiaogang, oppressed families and sects rebelled. Within half a year, the empire had descended into civil war; the Clear Sky Sect took more than half its territory, and Tang Chen proclaimed the Clear Sky Empire 1140.
