The battle between Lieutenant Colonel Katon and former President Lioz had ended four and a half standard days ago.
During that time, short on manpower, the Night Butterfly forces had been unable to make up for the lack of genuine technical personnel even with large numbers of clones and Night Association troops. They had no choice but to pull back their lines and relinquish the territories they had occupied.
Yet Crystal Tower had long since been exhausted. After retaking several symbolically significant planets such as Avarovka, Dibilia, and Code 901, it no longer had the strength to advance.
The armies on both sides began consolidating their forces along the front, salvaging wrecked ships, and searching for wounded soldiers to treat. Even when they encountered each other on the battlefield, they remained silent. They would even help each other send signals, warning the other side where their soldiers were.
For the politicians in the upper echelons, those four and a half days had been unbearable. Every minute and every second, domestic public pressure and the radicals urged them to act.
But for the soldiers on both sides, it was an incomparably blissful time.
