Along Frostplate's northern border lay twenty-one Forward Cities, and Radiant Light City was one of them.

Because it was so remote, this place often became a transit point for smugglers and fugitives. The once-famous Li Aoz and Nethermark Humanity had both left Frostplate from here and entered the Outland. When Sky Ring and Frostplate went to war twice, this was also where blades first crossed.

Bountiful Village, under Jianlin County, was the salient closest to the Outland. In the Old Era, this had been the seabed of an ocean. The terrain was flat, and its largest exports were ancient biological fossils and Old Era shipwrecks.

Bountiful Village was actually enormous. Though nominally a village, its controlled territory alone exceeded 900,000 square kilometers. It was almost entirely plains; even the occasional slope never exceeded thirty degrees.

Most of the wasteland awaited reclamation. When the warriors of the old Heavenly Ring Nation withdrew, however, they left behind thirty million unexploded shells and all manner of land mines. These weapons thoroughly ruined the local farmers' safety and motivation, leaving Bountiful Village unable to develop despite its excellent flatlands.

Yet this environment had one particular advantage.

It was exceptionally suitable for large-scale armored deployment. There were hardly any natural barriers, allowing for a true all-out armored battle of mechs, tanks, and fighter jets.

The farming residents along the border were promptly evacuated by Law Enforcement Division Three. Frostplate combat engineers, accompanied by three thousand conscripted workers and five Gamma Rank mechanics, began construction. In less than twenty minutes, they rapidly transformed the local factories into a fortress.
