Imitation Society—Philolis—was a cruel, lawless monster.
It often wandered through the border universe between Narrative Eleven, "United Company," and Narrative Twelve, "Temple of Annihilation."
A so-called narrative was originally a region of cosmic space occupied by an Overlord Class civilization. The spacetime within such an area had been completely mastered by the Overlord Class civilization, operating according to its own separate rules. Any given narrative spanned tens of billions of star systems.
Li Aoz, or rather Azure Planet, was merely a tiny planet beneath such a Grand Narrative.
Monsters like Society were different. Mortals could only understand them as "civilization devourers"; beyond that, nothing was known.
Li Aoz did not know much about Philolis either.
Li Aoz only knew this: its power and mobility far exceeded mortal comprehension, and its mysterious, transcendent existence stood at an incomparably lofty level. As a cosmic lifeform that fed on civilizations, it gave even narratives a headache.
There was no way to destroy it, nor any way to stop it from feeding. They could only try to persuade it to leave.
Yet compared to its godlike status within civilizations... people could hardly be said to respect it. What they felt more than anything was fear of its method of infiltration.
True to the "imitation" in its name, once it infiltrated a narrative region, it would dispatch its "citizens"—the cells on its body—into various civilizations. They would adapt, choose targets, devour native lifeforms, replace their identities, and continue acting until they gradually consumed the entire civilization.
The most basic citizens of Imitation Society were called Imitation Humans.
Imitation Humans were extremely terrifying creatures. They approached humans, devoured them, replaced their identities, then continued living disguised as humans. They would contact other humans and devour them as well.
